Notes:
Reading at Home
Our Family Morning will focus on the importance of reading at home. Significant research has been conducted on the connection between reading at home and long-term success both in school and in the workplace. Our staff spends time every day reading to our students and, hopefully before they leave Shaner, most of our students will spend time reading to each other and to their teachers. The most important academic foundation that you can provide for your child is the gift of words. Spend time every day reading to your child. When you purchase gifts for them, be sure to include books. Our local bookstore and library are amazing places to spend time with your children. Make books a big part of their life, so big in fact, that when presented with the choice between a book to hold and look at or a tablet to hold and play a game on, the book wins! Making your home and car a literacy rich environment will be one of the best things you do for your child!
Safe & Responsible Driving During Arrival & Dismissal
With hundreds of cars flowing through during arrival and dismissal it is of utmost importance that all drivers follow all motor vehicle laws on and around our campus. All drivers must comply with campus motor vehicle signage.
- Traffic flows through the Shaner drive in a one-way direction.
- Park only in designated spaces or use street parking.
- Walk your child across the Shaner drive using the crosswalk. Note that all children at Shaner, due to their age, must be walked to the drop off location.
- Do not park in a manner that obstructs the Shaner drive or traffic.
Motor vehicle violations are addressed by HTPD.
