Penicillin is an antibiotic that eliminated infection causing bacteria. They are mainly bactericidal and especially active against gram positive organism. It has a low toxic action against animal tissue. For example it can be used to treat ear infection.

How does Penicillin work?

Usually our immune systems are strong enough, thanks to white blood cells, to fight off any infections caused by bacteria. In some instances, however, our body needs help to fight off the infection. This is where antibiotics step in. Bacteria constantly rebuilds its cell wall to protect itself. Penicillin works by destroying these cell walls of bacteria.
