Curriculum Corner
Try These Ideas in January!
- Instead of writing ‘Name: _______________’ at the top of papers, write growth mindset messages to your students.
- ‘ ________ is growing’
- ‘_________ is a varsity mathlete’
- ‘Ms/Mr. ___ believes in _________’
- ‘______ matters in our class’
- Rather than asking students “What are you reading,” try “What images come to mind as you were reading today”
- Next time you have a substitute, leave 3-5 “Sub Tickets.” The substitute can award students who were particularly helpful, on task, or that turned it around. Let your students claim a prize from your prize bin, 5 minutes of iPad time, or another reward of your choice the next day. Because they’re different than your normal system, they’re extra special.

How to give a Progress Monitor after the student completed the benchmark
If you are in a place where you still haven't given a certain student the Fall benchmark- do not give it now- we are too far from the window to make the scores valid. You can still Progress Monitor using a Survey Level Assessment in the area you want to progress monitor. Directions Here. Then you would set the goal and monitor from there.
