Student Council Hosted First Fundraiser

This year's student council officers, lead by Mr. Havens, hosted their first fundraiser in conjunction with the first pep rally. Students "voted" with dollars for the teacher they wanted to see duct taped to the wall. The student in each grade level that voted the most was chosen to help with the taping. Mr. Hernandez willingly let students tape him to the back of the stage and was revealed at the end of the pep rally.

Girls Who Code Club-Thursdays During Lunch

Girls Who Code was founded with a single mission: to close the gender gap in technology.

Cavazos wants to help with building the largest pipeline of future female engineers in the United States. We will do this by offering girls opportunities to deepen computer science skills as well as their confidence. By developing a supportive sisterhood of peers and role models, we will help our girls persist and succeed.

Girls Who Code Club meets Thursdays during the 3 lunches. Girls will need a pass to participate, which they will get from the library. Then, students will bring their lunch to the library during their lunch period to participate in the day's activities. Students can visit with Mrs. McNeal, our Girls Who Code advisor, for more details.

PBIS Reward Party

Our PBIS (Positive Behavior & Intervention System) committee rewarded students for having no unexcused absences, few tardies, and no behavior incidents in the first six weeks of school. Students earning the reward were given the choice to participate in various sporting activities, hang out with friends, and/or use their phones and devices. Below are some pictures from the fun!
