Cardinal Connection

Cedar Ridge Elementary

September 2021

Dear Cedar Ridge Families,

What an amazing start to our new school year! Students are settling into their routines and are engaged in their learning. It has been great to see so many familiar faces and meet so many new ones. Currently, we have approximately 400 students enrolled at Cedar Ridge! We welcome our new “Cedar Ridge Cardinals” to our school family, and we hope you will find these monthly newsletters along with school messenger calls, our school’s website, and grade-level newsletters helpful to keep you informed about your child’s progress and all the events we have planned this year.

As we run full steam ahead into our 2021- 2022 school year, Cedar Ridge will be participating in Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS). PBIS is a process for creating safer and more effective schools. It is a systems approach to enhancing the capacity of schools to educate all children by developing research-based, school-wide, and classroom behavior support systems. The process focuses on improving a school’s ability to teach and support positive behavior for all students. Rather than a prescribed program, PBIS provides systems for schools to design, implement, and evaluate effective school-wide, classroom, non-classroom, and student specific plans. PBIS includes school-wide procedures and processes intended for all students and all staff in all settings. PBIS is not a program or a curriculum. It is a team-based process for systemic problem solving, planning, and evaluation. It is an approach to creating a safe and productive learning environment where teachers can teach, and all students can learn.

An important reminder is to update the parent portal with your latest information. We take the safety of your children very seriously. Having the most current and accurate information about our students is imperative in any safety, health, or weather-related circumstance. Please keep us updated on emergency contacts, and health information.

On behalf of the Cedar Ridge Staff, we appreciate your continued support in helping us to develop the essential relationships necessary between school and home for our children. Together we can make a difference in each child’s life. I am very proud to be a part of this great school and community and look forward to serving you as we pursue our goal of excellence.
