TCB Scheduler is here!
Parents and Students: The TCB Scheduler is here!
It’s here! TCB Scheduler. The scheduler allows students, parents, guardians and teachers to view a student’s TCB schedule. The scheduler goes live Monday, December 9. Over the next couple of weeks, teachers and students will be learning and getting used to the new system.
What is TCB?
TCB stands for ‘Taking Care of Business.’ Four days each week (M T TH F), we provide a 31 minute period for students to schedule a time with any teacher for support.
Why the change? The change is to allow a move from our current paper tracking system for TCB to an online system that will allow you and your student to see how your student is using their TCB time and track their attendance.
Starting Monday, December 9, parent/guardians and students will see the TCB Scheduler in the PowerSchool web portal. Students may also download a mobile app.
TCB Scheduler allows students to request a TCB session with any available teacher and have it show up in the PowerSchool portal for the student, teachers and your parent/guardians to see.
How will students schedule time with a teacher using the new scheduler? Students will talk with either the teacher they want to visit or their 2nd/6th period teacher and ask to be scheduled on a specific date. Teachers may also request to see a student. The change will appear in the PowerSchool portal and on the app for both parents/guardians and students to see.
When is it OK to ask a teacher for a TCB session?
In general, students will talk with their 2nd or 6th period teacher at the start of TCB to get scheduled with another teacher. Some teachers may set aside time during their regular class period for requests or allow emails – ask at the start of TCB or follow the expectations for each class.
What do students do if they don’t need to see a teacher? Students will remain with their 2nd or 6th period teacher and use the time to study or complete homework.
Will students earn a grade? No. Students do not earn a grade for TCB but attendance is a requirement and falls under the school attendance policy.
How Do Students and Parent/Guardians Access the Scheduler?
You may access the scheduler in 2 ways.

Bike Theft Precaution
Attention Bike Riders!
We have had 3 very nice bikes stolen from our campus during the middle of the day in the last 3 weeks. The thieves come with bolt cutters so even locking them with a regular cable lock is not enough of a deterrent. We know that riding bikes to school is a healthy choice for kids and the environment. To protect your bikes, we strongly recommend purchasing a kryptonite U lock for your bike to securely lock it up.

Yearbook Parent Ads will be accepted until January 10
Looking for a creative way to tell your graduate, “I love you and I’m proud of you” now that their high school years are coming to an end? If the answer is yes, think about placing a “Senior Ads” in the yearbook. Yearbook dedication ads are a great way to give your child the special recognition they deserve, for everyone to see, in the 2020 yearbook.
Space will be filled on a first come first serve basis and we need to meet a minimum number of ads to place them in the book.
Proceeds of these ads help keep the cost of the yearbook low and provide book for students in need.

Volunteer for Friends of the Animal Shelter Holiday Fair
FOTAS is planning a new major event which presents opportunities for Ashland HS students, starting immediately and through the end of the year. Deck The Paws Holiday Fair, a community-wide event, will be held on December 7 at the Phoenix Plaza Civic Center (PPCC). The fair will be open to the public, free admission. There are three main components:
· Individuals and families can bring their pets for photo portraits with Santa Paws and Cat-Elf.
· A wide array of hand-crafted gifts and décor will be on sale.
· Attendees can enjoy a reasonably priced, nutritious hot soup lunch.
Ashland HS students can participate in many different ways:
Make handcrafted items – We are collecting wonderful creations to sell at the fair. Wooden, woven, painted, sculpted – you name it, just create it! Students can join the “FOTAS Elves” group on Facebook and review photos and how-to posts for inspiration.
Organize and run your own table – Get a class or club to work together to stock and staff an Ashland HS table at the fair. In addition to selling items for the benefit of FOTAS, you can present information and displays about school projects (especially nice if animal related).
Help with photography – We need 2-6 students skilled in photo editing and computers to prepare and print 5x7” glossy prints of family and pet portraits at the fair. We will have one training session (1-2 hours) in September, and a full rehearsal for all participants in the photo project in October. Students can also work as roaming event photographers. After the fair we will need help organizing and uploading photo files.
Help with publicity – Dozens of event posters need to be distributed to locations throughout Ashland and beyond.
Singing & entertainment – We will have caroling and performances on the plaza at PPCC. Canopies and patio heaters will be set up if the weather requires. The Ashland HS Choir is invited to perform, and other groups and even individuals (jugglers? magicians?) are encouraged to sign up.
Paint faces – Students who paint or enjoy doing makeup are needed to do face painting. They will need to develop 6-8 sample faces on poster board, to display at the fair, and take shifts 11AM-4PM. Brushes and paint can be supplied.
Work at the fair – We will start setting up the fair at 7:30AM on December 7. Students with their own vehicles can shuttle boxes of merchandise and supplies to PPCC from a nearby staging location. We will need a small army of volunteers to unpack these boxes, set up tables and displays, and decorate the venue – all by 11AM. And then at 4-6PM we need to pack it all up and leave PPCC sparkling clean! Students do not need to commit for the entire day – just join the morning or afternoon team.
