Week of Respect

Thank you to Mrs. Gutierrez, Mrs. Pennetti, and Ms. Soriano and the entire Sussex Avenue community for a great Week of Respect. From our theme days to daily activities, it is a reminder that respect is yearlong, and not just one week! To see the halls filled with students and staff alike in their pajamas, fun hats, favorite team attire, and bright clothing made for a wonderful week. Keep shining brightly Sussex Stars!

Kindness for Christopher

On October 5th, students listened to the message of how Kindness can change the world from Chris and Laura D'Amico. Children were riveted in his message of sharing kindness and the ripple effect one random act of kindness can cause.

Children will be creating kindness rocks to be displayed in the front of our building signaling Sussex Avenue is a place where Kindness and Respect is the expectation of all.

Last week our "Quote of the Week" was "When given the choice between being right or being kind, choose kind." -Dr. Wayne Dyer"

I hope the conversations around the quote each week make their way home and continue to evoke discussion on how to internalize and apply these words into our students daily lives.

Congratulations to this year SNAP Ambassadors! Students participated in the SNAP Ambassador meeting at FMS on Thursday and will begin conducting the SNAP training for the 3rd graders this coming week during PE. Ms. Strasser, who coordinates the program and provides the training, recognized our SNAP Ambassadors as focused, motivated, and compassionate students. Our 2018-2019 SNAP Ambassadors: Colleen O., Jackie G., Emiliy S., Kaitlin W., Catherine G., Jessica R., Dia A., Kailee C., Merith M., Gabriella A., Thomas A., Christopher M., Jeremy A., Noel G., and Frank R..

Way to shine Sussex Stars!
