November Curriculum
Math - Students have working on building an understanding of the patterns within the number system. We have used that knowledge to multiply and divide any number by 10, 100, and 1000. This week we will focus on order of operations and discuss variousmultiplication strategies.
Social Studies/Writing - Civics/Government Test on Wednesday, October 5th.Students are working on (or have finished a study guide). We will be going through the study guides together on Monday and I will clarify any questions students may have at that time (and on Tuesday). No surprises. If it's on the guide it could be on the test. There is a Quizlet for study practice at this link: https://quizlet.com/class/3431807/.
Science - Weather Unit 5.E.1.1 Compare daily and seasonal changes in weather conditions (including wind speed and direction, precipitation, and temperature) and patterns. 5.E.1.2 Predict upcoming weather events from weather data collected through observation and measurements. 5.E.1.3 Explain how global patterns such as the jet stream and water currents influence local weather in measurable terms such as temperature, wind direction and speed, and precipitation.
Reading - Our focus of learning and instruction over the next couple of weeks will be:
- I I can determine the meaning of academic words or phrases in an informational text (RI.5.4.a)
- I can determine the meaning of content words or phrases in an informational text (RI.5.4)
- I can determine the main idea(s) of an informational text based on key details. (RI.5.2)
- I can read fifth-grade texts with fluency (RI.5.4)
