Navigation Notes

Hello Westside Parents and Families! We had a fantastic time celebrating Read Across America week and learning about literature. See the links below in the newsletter for a recap if you missed our Facebook post. Be sure to 'Like' our page to stay informed!

Your child is working hard every day to master their grade level standards, and with only a few months left of this school year, the instruction and student tasks will continue to be rigorous. FSA for 3rd-6th is coming soon, so please see below for the dates of your child's assessment.

Thank you to all families who bring their students each day on time. However, we do have more tardies than we'd like, so for those who are coming in late, please plan to bring your child to school no later than 7:55a. Instruction begins promptly at 8:00am.

This is National School Breakfast Week! Encourage your child to fuel their bodies and brains with a FREE, nutritious start to every school day in the cafeteria. Thank you to our hard-working Food Services Team who prepare and serve meals to our students each and every day.

Class and Club picture day is Tuesday, March 9th. You can order a copy of your child's photo at this link: https://vando.imagequix.com/g1000835174#login and use your their Student ID as their passcode.

For your planning purposes, the school and office will be closed for Spring Break, March 15-19. We hope you and your children are able to spend quality time together building memories and enjoying the beautiful weather outdoors! School will resume on Monday, March 22nd.

Again, thank you for your continued support towards our school and staff. Have a wonderful week ahead!

Read Across America Week

Thank you to all who helped their child participate in our Read Across America/Dr. Seuss celebration last week! Students participated in read alouds by their teachers and Mrs. Woodbury, had 30-minutes of Drop Everything and Read time, walked the campus to see all the amazing artwork each class created for their door, and explored new books in our media center. If you did not see our Facebook post, click here for a video montage of all the fantastic costumes and fun we had! https://youtu.be/f_3zBQSIYX4

Check out the creativity of our staff who decorated their doors in honor of their favorite books!

Westside Students Learn Every Moment of Every Day!

Mrs. Burchinal’s and Ms. Sepe’s classes have been studying the events leading to the American Revolution and the American Revolution itself. Students had to decide which events they felt were the most important in leading to the American Revolution. They were given the choice of creating the events on index cards with captions or a PowerPoint.

Spanish: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ELEM20-21SP

Please complete this online survey from home on your home computer or on your smartphone. Paper copies are available for families with limited electronic access. By completing this survey, you will help us serve each of our students with excellence.

A summary of the parent survey results will be reported and posted on the BPS Family Engagement website at https://tinyurl.com/BrevardFE as well as our school website. Survey results and comments will guide school improvement efforts and be used to meet the diverse needs of Brevard students and families.

Survey for Parents of Students with Disabilities

If you have a student with a current IEP, you should have received an envelope this week with a survey. Please complete and return to school OR click the digital link here: https://www.esesurvey.com

Parents will be asked to select their child’s school district, school name, and enter their child’s grade and date of birth. All information given by the parent on the survey will be kept confidential and will not be linked to student or parent individually identifiable data. Parents with more than one child with an IEP should complete the survey for each child.
