A Message from Mr. Hoog
Dear BSE Families,
We were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support we received for the Hamilton Southeaster Schools Foundation Pasta Bowl. Congratulations are in order, Brooks School Bears. We tripled the amount of donations we collected last year!
In the coming months we’ll have additional philanthropic opportunities in which our students will be invited to participate. Some of these include “drives” for gently used winter clothing or shoes, while others (such as our BSE Riley Dance Mini Marathon) more directly involve our students.
We thought you’d like to know about these events so you can plan ahead. Perhaps as you sort through last year’s winter clothing or are clearing out shoes that may no longer fit, you can put them aside to give to someone in need.
We’ll be sure to pass along more details as they become available and thank you again for your generosity!
Sincerely,
Mr. Hoog

Read-A-Thon Update
As you have seen on your dashboards, your readers have earned Read-a-thon (RAT) bucks to spend on prizes in the Read-a-thon store. This amount is based on the donations that your reader collected. We will have 10 days to access the dashboards and make prize selections. Please be sure to go redeem your RAT bucks within these next 10 days as the RAT bucks will not be available after the 10 day prize redemption window.
Enjoy choosing your rewards- these kids worked hard and earned it!

Snack Attack is Back!
Brooks School Elementary is pleased to announce the return of a program for those kids on the Free or Reduced Lunch Programs (or really any student in need!). The program is called Indy Snack Attack and is designed to help those kids who need a little extra nourishment to get them through the weekend till they can receive a hot meal at school on Monday.
Here's how the program works. Your student will pick up a small sack on Friday to be taken home over the weekend. The sack is filled with individually wrapped snacks such as granola bars, fruit cups, pop tarts, or crackers/peanut butter just to name a few. The type of snacks will vary each week. Please let us know if your child has a peanut allergy. They will receive a special bag of peanut-free snacks.
There is no cost to you or the school. If you are interested in having your student participate in Indy Snack Attack or have questions please contact Andrea Thorne, school counselor, at 317-915-4250 orathorne@hse.k12.in.us.
