JSMS Data Action Team: Grade Level Meetings and KYLE
Our JSMS Data Action Team voiced that it would be helpful for us to provide reports for you regarding your current students and their TN READY data from last year. Kyle has run the reports by teacher and has highlighted the students who were one question away from proficiency. Additionally, you can look to see who those students were who were one question AWAY from proficiency. Kyle will send you your personal data and during our Grade Level Meetings on Friday, November 30th.
CULTURE CLUB DUES ARE DUE!
Michael Hubbard at Sevier!
November 26: Michael Hubbard will be attending all Math and Science Collaborative Planning Meeting to review TN Ready data of current students in classes. He will be focusing on students who need to be stretched, those who need most support and those who are "on the bubble" based on TN Ready. We will have your reports run for you on this day.
Teacher Attendance
As a state and district, there is a focus on teacher/administrator attendance that I want to pass along to you. More will likely be shared in the near future, but I want to make sure you are in the loop and aware. Most of JSMS has good attendance and this is not something that you need to worry about. Typically, people who read these types of reminders and worry are not the ones who need to worry. That being said, teacher and administrator attendance is important and one we need to be aware of, as its implications affect students. Teachers are the number one reason students achieve....you matter! Your presence matters! No one can can substitute for the work you do on a daily basis...
As we work to improve student attendance and research and share the impact to students when there are gaps in instruction, we must also consider teacher absenteeism. As a district we want to make sure we are not expecting more from families then we are of our own staff. However, it is also understood that teachers are also the caregivers for their families and your needs surpass those of just yourself. Over the coming months, we will be researching our own attendance in district and school patterns to ensure that we do not neglect to keep this in mind as a piece of the attendance puzzle.
As a reminder, time off directly before or after a school break must have superintendent approval. This should go through the principal. In addition, time off for personal reasons may be declined if more than 10% of staff is already scheduled to be off that day. Also remember, you have 1 hour or under of time during a day in which you can be out of the building without taking leave. This is a courtesy and should only be taken if you have coverage for your class by an assistant. You should also notify and sign out in the office when this is a necessity.
In addition, please understand that we are allotted 4 weeks of time off from school (fall break, winter break, spring break). In addition you have personal time. Any requests for leave beyond your days will be declined when selecting leave without pay unless absolutely necessary. We do not permit employees to request time off when they do not have the time to take.
- PLEASE request off for any absences that you are aware of that will occur this year now. It puts the entire school in a bind when we have multiple teachers out without subs.
- If you take a sick day on a day that has been blocked and do not turn in a sick leave excuse, it will be marked unexcused. This is district procedure. We understand that there are times this will happen, and as long as you have a sick leave excuse from a doctor on these days, the day will be marked as excused. We will always give you advance notice when this is the case.
