Coach Cooz Tournament
The Greater Houston Catholic Athletic Association (GHCAA) is hosting the Annual Coach Cooz tournament this week and CCCS has been asked to participate by hosting games on Monday and Wednesday.
We have a tremendous responsibility in making this tournament a success and we need your help! It was initiated and named after Coach Cusimano, who was a great role model for our kids, active member of the community and Archdiocese.
All proceeds from gate entry fees and 50% of concessions sales go to the Coach Cooz Scholarship Fund; which, for the past 5 years, has provided annual scholarship awards to a graduating 8th grade boy and girl athlete from Corpus Christi School, who went on to attend a Catholic High School. The initial plan was that beginning this school year, athletes from all Archdiocesan schools would be eligible for the award. However, members of the GHCAA unanimously voted to keep the awards only at Corpus Christi , since this is where Coach Cusimano spent his years coaching. What a blessing for our scholars!
Volunteers are needed to make this event a success!
Here's a great way to obtain volunteer (adult) and/or service (middle school scholars) hours. Sign- up genius link attached to sign up below…

Keeping Our Children Healthy: A Message from Nurse Greenwell
We take the health and wellness of our school family very seriously. As Houston has become one of the hardest hit areas in the country for this year’s flu epidemic, I wanted to offer some everyday preventive actions to stop the spread of any germs.
- Wash your hands frequently w/ soap & water. Also use an alcohol based hand sanitizer.
- Clean & disinfect surfaces & objects (with bleach containing cleansers) that may be contaminated with germs like the flu.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose & mouth as germs are easily spread this way.
- Cover your nose & mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash & wash your hands.
- If you are sick w/ a flu-like illness the CDC recommends that you stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone.
- The Archdiocese of Galveston Houston also requires that students be symptom free ( no fever, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.) for 24 hours before returning to school.
- To the extent possible, try to avoid individuals who are sick.
- When sick, limit your contact w/ others so as to avoid infecting them.
Let's be proactive in keeping our community safe!
