Message From Superintendent Mueller
Good Afternoon, CUSD.
Today is a busy and exciting day for our CHS athletic department! Both boys and girls varsity soccer teams will play in divisional championships tonight. Additionally, varsity baseball is hosting their home opener this afternoon at the newly renovated Chaconas Field. Go Islanders!
We are also looking forward to the always entertaining Coronado’s Talent show tomorrow (Saturday) night. The community-wide talent show will benefit the Coronado Schools Foundation and CoSA…. In other words… our students! Special thanks to event sponsors Donna Salof, Alan and Lisa Kinzel, and everyone involved in this event. Hurry and get a ticket before they sell out! Tickets and information can be found here.
Congratulations to CHS senior Morgan Bradbury who was selected as a runner up for the Language Student of the Year award in California. And thank you to CHS AP Spanish teacher Megan Probasco for nominating Morgan. We are so grateful to have amazing teachers like Megan who go above and beyond in support of our students. Read more here.
Next week we are looking forward to our Long Range Plan (LRP) Community Forum on Thursday 3/3 at 5pm. We hope to see many of you there to learn more about the LRP, lend your voices and ideas to the discussion, and see how different initiatives are designing experiences and securing resources across CUSD. For example, two of the updates above can be directly tied to strategies outlined in our LRP. AP Spanish students like Morgan Bradbury are eligible for the Seal of Biliteracy, one of the indicators for the College and Career Readiness which is a focus area in the LRP. And, a portion of funding for the Chaconas Field renovation came from our Facilities for Facilities initiative, also tied to the LRP. See more details below.
And finally, we are expecting more news from the governor regarding an update on mask mandates on or before Monday 2/28. We will update our school community with any changes that apply to K-12 schools.
Have a great weekend, CUSD

Caught Being Awesome!
As our educators, parents, and community come together to connect, challenge, and champion our students during the COVID Pandemic, we are humbled by the outpouring of compliments during these trying times. What a positive testament to our CUSD family!
- Kodie Englehart: He is always interacting and helping out all the students.
Click here to recognize an employee or volunteer who goes above and beyond to make a difference. Those who are "caught" will receive a copy of the positive words that were shared about them and a "Caught Being Awesome" decal. Please take a minute or two to brighten someone else's day!
