Principals' Post
Hello Panther Families,
As Dr. Stachowiak stated yesterday in her message to NPD117 families, Governor Pritzker announced on Friday afternoon that schools will remain closed through April 7.
We will continue to update you as we receive new information from the state, including guidance on when the district can implement its e-learning plan. NPD117 is looking to determine which families do not have Internet access or an electronic device at home to receive assignments.
- Please note: if we need to put e-learning into place, we will plan on providing Chromebooks to all 3rd and 4th grade students (more details to come).
If you DO NOT have Internet access or an electronic device to receive assignments, please call the attendance line at 708-598-5743 and choose your child’s school, then dial 9 to leave the name of your child and grade (please ignore the fact that it refers to an absence, we are using this voicemail box for a different purpose in this instance).
Meals are available at no cost to all children 18 and under. Meal packets can be picked up at Conrady Junior High between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM according to the following schedule:
- March 23, 2020: Two breakfast and two lunch meals will be distributed per child
- March 24, 2020: No meals will be distributed
- March 25, 2020: Three breakfast and three lunch meals will be distributed per child
- March 26-March 28, 2020: No meals will be distributed
When picking up meals at Conrady, enter through the north entrance on Roberts Road and follow the traffic cones to proceed to door 8 to receive meals. Remain in your vehicle, provide us the number of children, and meals will be brought to you. Children do NOT need to be in the vehicle to receive meals.
Please call 708-233-4514 to speak with Food Services with questions or concerns including the inability to pick up meals at these times and we will attempt to make other arrangements.
Please continue to check www.npd117.net for updates.
Stay home, stay safe, stay healthy!

Simple Ways to Protect Your Family - From the CDC
I know it sounds simple, but washing your hands is easy, and it’s one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of germs. Clean hands can stop germs from spreading from one person to another and throughout an entire community—from your home and workplace to childcare facilities and hospitals.
Please take a few moments to speak with your child about these handwashing procedures. We also have displayed the following handwashing reminders in all bathrooms for students and staff:
Five steps to follow every time when washing your hands - Why? Read the science behind the recommendations.
Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap.
Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.
Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.
REMEMBER - the easiest way to prevent the spread of respiratory viruses (like Covid-19) is to follow simple, everyday preventive actions
Avoid close contact with sick people.
While sick, limit contact with others as much as possible.
STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK!
Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze (use your ELBOW or ARM, NOT YOUR HAND)
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands; germs spread this way.
Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol based hand rub with at least 60% alcohol.
