Weekly Update
Hello Families!
Thank you for sharing your students with us. We are so grateful for the stories, smiles, and relationships we have formed with these kiddos! We sincerely hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving break with students. Don't forget to celebrate the little things and hope you can make some memories over this break. Rest up and enjoy the time with family, friends, and loved ones. Engage in conversation or shared learning with your student, maybe ask them to teach you something they learned this week! We will not be sending out a Pathfinder Press next week, so keep this edition for reference.
This newsletter is full of important information about upcoming events at Pathfinder. Please enjoy your weekend with those that you love!

November 18th Leadership Social: Citizenship
Our third Leadership Social of the year took place today (Friday, November 17th) around the Pirates R.O.C.K. monthly character trait of Citizenship. Students were nominated by their peers, Mrs. Krieger, Mrs. Brooks, and Mrs. Friederich to attend today's Leadership Social. Students got to wear their Leadership Shirts (thanks again, PTA!) and came down to the cafeteria for a special treat, a presentation, and a shared learning experience.
Today's guest speakers were from Harvesters!

October Leadership Social
Today we welcomed Miss Kristen from Harvesters. The presentation informed the students about the importance of the work Harvesters does and how it affects different people in many different ways. Students experienced a hands on activity where they created cards that the Harvesters volunteers will add to meals that are given to our elderly population in our area. This is a great way for our students to reach out to the community in a meaningful way!

Title I Compacts - Please Return!
As a Title I school, Pathfinder receives additional federal funds to support academic success for all students. Part of being a Title I school means building home to school connections and making our commitments to families clear. In an effort to do just that, we sent home our home-school compacts at Parent Teacher Conferences. These compacts outline what Pathfinder will do, what parents will do, and what students will do to ensure success in school. Please sign this and get it returned for us! Any questions about the compact or Title I programming in general can be directed to Mrs. Miller, our Assistant Principal (millere@platteco.k12.mo.us).

Fall Parent Survey / Complete by December 4th
The Platte County School District is conducting its annual parent survey to gather feedback on strengths of the district, as well as areas to consider for growth. Your input is important and will be considered when making future decisions.
If you have not already completed the survey during Parent/Teacher conferences, we ask that you complete the survey by clicking on the link below. If you have more than one student, please be sure to answer those questions for each building. The survey should take approximately fifteen minutes to complete. Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Treasure Chest Support
The PCR-3 Treasure Chest is also providing groceries to assist families who qualify for Free or Reduced Meal Plans. Qualifying families will receive a weekly form via email to fill out or call 816-858-7001 weekly, so we can appropriately plan for resources. Once approved, families can receive additional food on Wednesdays from 4-6pm at the Treasure Chest site (in the north parking lot of PCHS).

Visitors at Lunch
The Pathfinder Cafeteria is open for visitors! Please sign up in advance to eat with your child! Below are some guidelines that will help make this experience a success:
- Prior to visiting, please verify your student's lunch time and utilize the sign up to reserve your spot (1 sign up = 1 visitor seat). No more than 2 adults can sign up.
- Bring a state-issued ID to get signed in. Visitors must be listed on the student’s SISK12 account or parent permission must be received at the office prior to the visit.
- Please keep in mind that we have limited seating for visitors. Finding other arrangements for younger siblings during the lunch visit would be appreciated.
- Parents can either bring outside food or a packed lunch for their child and themselves. Parents may also purchase a lunch from school, but need to use this sign up to do that in advance.
- Parents may not go back to the classroom or recess after lunch.
- Only the child (no friends) can sit with parent during lunch.
- Outside food and drink will only be permitted if you are staying to eat with your student.
- Parents who show up for lunch without signing up will be added if there is an open spot. If not, the office can help the parent sign up for a future date.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation in making this opportunity a success!

Substitutes Needed!
You have most likely heard a lot about staffing shortages in schools throughout the metro area. To be as transparent as possible Pathfinder is being impacted by the shortage due to staff illness and lack of substitutes. We begin with finding coverage for classrooms as that has the greatest impact on students. At times we are needing to cancel specific content area classes (Reading Improvement, English Learning classes), or we are utilizing staff who are not directly supervising students (Library Aide, Behavior Coach, Instructional Coach). Our coverage process is on a rotating basis so that we are not continually canceling the same content areas.
The main reason we are communicating this information to you is so that you know our plan for continuing the educational process at Pathfinder. However, we do have another reason for sharing this with you. WE ARE IN NEED OF SUBSTITUTES! If you or you know of someone who may want to substitute in our schools please apply using the link below!
