Upcoming School Events & Announcements
Monday, October 14th - No School
Starting on Tuesday, October 15th, KT will begin the 2019 Homecoming week! Tuesday is “Decade Day” Dress to represent your favorite decade of the 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s. 3 homecoming games are happening that afternoon: varsity boys soccer, freshmen girls volleyball, and cross country.
There will be a 10th Grade class meeting on Tuesday, October 15th from 2-2:30PM in Room 317. We will be discussing plans and ideas for a potential all-school dance. Snacks will be provided. See Mr. Davol or Ms. Porter if you have any questions.
The Chess Club and Magic the Gathering will meet Thursday, October 17th at 2:05PM in room 102. All those who are interested are welcome to join! Come ready to play!
Any student interested in Yearbook club see Mr. Allain in Graphics or Mrs. Hargrove in Visual Design.
Students interested in being SkillsUSA officer for Keefe Tech see Mr. Allain in Graphics or Mr. Flynn in Plumbing.
On Thursday, October 17th, representatives from the military will be at all 3 lunches to answer any student questions and provide information on their programs.
It's that time of the year for the Health Careers Fall Blood Drive. Did you know one in seven people entering a hospital need blood. Please consider donating on Tuesday, November 5th. Sign up at all 3 lunches today!
On Friday, October 18th, KT will be capping off our 2019 Homecoming week with KT class day. After the pep rally, we will be hosting a BBQ, intramural tournaments, and faculty games. Sign ups for kickball, gaga ball and 4 square will be during lunch today.
The Guidance Department Hosts Financial Aid Night!
This is definitely an event that parents/guardians should attend if your student is thinking about going to a 2 or 4 year college when they graduate.

Welcome to our new Academic Faculty!
Welcome Ms. Erickson!
Nicole Erickson- Math Dept.
Nicole received her bachelors and master’s degrees at Worcester State University in Mathematics and Secondary Education. She began as a long-term substitute at Worcester Technical High School and has spent the last four years teaching 8th grade math at Cameron Middle School in Framingham. Outside of school Nicole enjoys outdoors traveling and hiking with her rescue puppy.
A fun fact about Ms. Erickson:
If she wasn't a math teacher, her dream job would be to own her own restaurant! She loves to travel and cook cuisines from other countries and regions.
Welcome Ms. Masso!
Kaitlin Masso- Math Dept.
Kaitlin is from Rhode Island and attended Texas A&M University where she received her bachelor’s in education. After graduating, she entered the Air Force where she worked in nuclear missile operations as a combat commander and instructor. After moving back home, Kaitlin worked as a teaching assistant and long-term substitute at Blackstone Valley Tech. She enjoys baking, archery, and hiking with her dog.
A fun fact about Ms. Masso:
She has traveled to almost all 50 states!
Welcome Mr. Spencer!
Daniel Spencer- ELL and Spanish Department
Daniel graduated in from Blackstone Valley Tech and attended initially attended MassBay for automotive, then computer science, before transferring to Framingham State and deciding to be a teacher. Daniel has a degree in English and has worked with adult ESL programs as has experience in the Framingham Public Schools with the ESL department. Daniel is excited to continue working in Framingham! In his free time Daniel enjoys cooking.

In his free time, he is a student of Jiu Jitsu!
Welcome Ms. Barrasso!
Anna Barrasso- Science Dept.
Anna has always loved Science and studied chemistry in college. For several years she worked as a research associate in academic and industrial laboratories. In these positions she often trained others in various instruments and chemical techniques, which attracted her to the idea of teaching. She obtained her teaching certificate and began teaching Illinois before moving with her family to Massachusetts. Anna most recently taught Chemistry at Worcester Tech.
A fun fact about Ms. Barrasso:
She is always on the hunt to buy and wear science themed t-shirts and tops!
Welcome Ms. Cucinotta!
Lauren Cucinotta – Health/PE
Lauren has a Bachelors degree from Bridgewater State University and Masters degree from Springfield College. She has experience teaching Health and PE in both the Pembroke and Brookline Public Schools and has also been a personal trainer through the YMCA. In her free time she enjoys being active, traveling, cooking and spending time with her nieces and nephew
A fun fact about Ms. Cucinotta:
She played college softball and completed the Boston Marathon in 2016!

School Counseling
Seniors who are planning to apply to 4-year colleges and universities should be working on their college applications, completing necessary essays and making sure they have connected with teachers about recommendations. Students should make an appointment with their School Counselor if they have not done so already. Deadlines come up quick and we want to make sure they everyone is on track.
Attention seniors: The deadline to register for the November 2nd administration of the SAT was Thursday, October 3rd! Late registration with an additional few goes till October 22nd. Instructions on how to register, as well as fee waivers are available in the Guidance Office. Register at http://collegeboard.com. Keefe Tech's CEEB Code is 220854.
Next SAT date is after that is December 7th, with a regular registration of November 8th!

College Lunch Visits - A representative from the schools below will be in the cafeteria during lunches if you are interested in learning more about their school and programs.
- Tuesday, October 15 - Dean College

Keefe Tech is offering the PSAT to all grade 11 students free of charge on Wednesday, October 16th. The PSAT is a practice SAT exam. The purpose of this test is familiarize kids with the format of the real SAT exam and to get an idea of what you might score on the actual SAT test. The SAT is a test that many colleges/Universities require for admission (4 year). Colleges will not receive these scores. Students who are registered to take this exam should report to the Auditorium on Wednesday after announcements to check in.

Monday, October 28 at 12:00 PM - UMASS Forum
Representatives from all the UMASS's will be at Keefe Tech to discuss their programs and schools. Interested students can register in the guidance office, or with the form below.
Families of Juniors and Seniors - Financial Aid Night
Thursday, October 24th from 6PM - 8PM.
- The School Counseling Department hosts a financial aid night for students planning to attend a 2 for 4-year college/university when they graduate from Keefe Tech.
- A representative from the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority will present important information
Wednesday, October 30 at 7:30 AM - ASVAB Exam
Any student who is planning to move forward with a career in the military will need to take this exam. If you are thinking about the military as an option you can take the exam at Keefe Tech before making any commitments. Interested students should see Mrs. Lyskowski is the Guidance Office.

Join the Herd Junior Campus Day will be held at Framingham State University on Saturday, October 19th from 9a.m. - 3p.m.

FSU offers College Readiness Seminar for Parents!
11th annual "College Readiness for Parents: What Every Parent Needs to Know" seminar being held at Framingham State University. It is scheduled for Thursday, October 17 at 7-9 PM. The focus of this event is NOT on financial aid but on helping parents understand the difficulties students have with the transition to college in order to help build the habits needed to become successful.
Topics to be discussed will be as follows:
- Expectations and assumptions of college faculty
- Work/study habits and organizational skills: high school vs. college
- Why getting good grades now is not a guarantee for future success

Ryan Fangel was 4th place low medalist in the small school division with an 82.
The KT Boosters Club wants YOU to help out!
The Boosters organization raises money each year to provide scholarships to outstanding seniors in each academic and vocational program. At Senior Awards Night last year, the Boosters gave out over $10,000 in scholarships! Please see the flyer below for more information.
