The Vista
News and Events for Vista Ridge United Methodist Church
November 1, 2018
Volunteers are needed Saturday, November 10, to assist with the food drive at Market Street. Volunteers greet customers, hand out flyers and accept food donations. Last year, donations from the food drive fed 43 of the 600 families assisted by CCA.
Sunday’s communion offering will support the annual food drive. The offering will be used to purchase food items for the angels who shop at the food pantry. In lieu of a communion offering, attend the food drive to purchase and donate items.
75022 New Study: The Redemption of Scrooge
The small group 75022 will begin a new study, The Redemption of Scrooge by Matt Rawle, on Tuesday, November 13. The study focuses on the teachings of Jesus based on Ebenezer Scrooge from the Dickens' Christmas classic A Christmas Carol, who needs a second chance. The group meets from 7-8:30 p.m. at the home of Barry and Laura Sykes in Flower Mound. Anyone interested is invited to attend. Contact Laura Sykes, txbsgolf@gmail.com, or Stephen Greenwade, sdg79ag@aol.com.
Connect with the Community: Christmas Parade Float Helpers
Vista Ridge wants to invite the community to our Live Nativity through participation in the Lewisville Christmas Parade and needs assistance with overseeing the project, decorating the float and walkers to help distribute candy/flyers. The parade begins at noon and all ages can participate. Please indicate your interest on the back of Sunday’s connection card or email bill@vrumc.org.
Children’s Sabbath/Friendsgiving Family Feasts
Our Vista Kids will lead us during worship Sunday, November 11, as we celebrate Children’s Sabbath with special music and the message—Go & Do: Be the Hands and Feet of Jesus. Afterward, take part in a Friendsgiving Family Feast.
- Vista Kids/United 345—12:30 p.m.
- Youth Connect—4 p.m.
The meat will be provided. Bring a side dish to share. All are invited to join in the food and fellowship.
Stephen ministers are available for personal prayer following each worship service at the front and back of the sanctuary.
Be a Kettle Bell Ringer for The Salvation Army
