LOCATION
The Tundra is located at latitudes 55° to 70° North. The Tundra covers about 20% of the Earth's surface, surrounding the North pole. It is usually very cold, and the land is pretty plain. Most tundras are located in the Northern Hemisphere. Average annual temperatures are -70°F
CLIMATE
Average annual temperatures are -70°F. Winds in the Tundra can blow between 30 to 60 miles per hour. During the summer the sun shines 24 hours a day, but the short summer last only 6 to 10 weeks. Precipitation totals 6-10 inches of rain per year, which includes melted snow.
