Featuring the Award Winning Play

Written By:

In the 1930's, individual states across the U.S. adopted a law that any person deemed physically or mentally incompetent could be sterilized. In North Carolina, thousands of women were sterilized. This law continued in North Carolina until it was repealed in 2003.

The play, You Wouldn't Expect, puts a face to an unjust law that affected thousands of women of color and those who were economically and physically disadvantaged.

This is an awesome piece; however it's a period piece so the language is strong. I don't advise bringing small children or attending if you're easily offended. However if you wish to attend please fasten your seat belts and enjoy vibrant personalities, and a dynamic singing ensemble that will set the tone and reality of things you wouldn't expect.
