Here are some important things to know:
We will offer full in-person instruction.
Currently, masks are highly recommended for all students and staff while indoors. Please note, masking guidance may change at any point during the school year, pending orders from the state or county public health department.
We continue to encourage all staff, students, and family members to get vaccinated and boosted. Vaccination locations can be found here.
COVID-19 vaccinations are not currently required for students to attend school in person for the 22-23 school year.
Families can pre-register for COVID testing at a district testing hub here.
At-home test kits will also be available at all schools for distribution to staff and students during back-to-school events, and for use prior to everyone arriving for the first day of classes.
Important information for you and your learner:
Bell Schedule (note: school now begins at 9:15AM!)
Please review the Toro Tips document for drop-off and additional information
Back to School Forms and Enrollment:
Back to School Forms are required every year. Families can fill out back to school forms on-line in the Aeries Parent Portal, or they can fill out paper forms at school. We ask all families to complete the forms by August 31, 2022.
Visit parent.ousd.org to complete the forms online.
For registration support, go to
Montera campus on August 1 & 2 from 9:30AM-12:30PM
Please bring a copy of your student’s current immunization records.
We can help you create an Aeries Parent Portal account if you don’t have one.
Please note that forms do not need to be filled out before the first day of school - your student will not lose their seat if the forms are not complete by August 8.
Similar to last year, we are also asking for information about monthly household income and number of household members. Collecting this information is essential for OUSD to receive the maximum amount of dollars from the state of California to provide the highest quality education for our students. Each year, OUSD loses out on millions of dollars from the state when we do not receive this critical information from families. Thank you for your partnership in answering these questions and completing all of your Back to School Forms!
Please don’t hesitate to contact me or our front office staff at (510) 879 - 3211 if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you on August 8!
In Community,
Dr. Latoya Williams
Principal

Hello Toro Families,
We hope you are staying healthy and enjoying summer break! We are Hector Salazar and Raine Dougan, and we are excited to serve as your new Montera PTO Co-Presidents.
This is going to be a great year at Montera. In addition to on-going initiatives, the PTO is particularly focused on strengthening campus culture and creating community. We look forward to reviving pre-pandemic events and adding new activities- lunch-time programs, after-school clubs, seasonal dances, Fall Festival, field trips, music/art/cultural activities … and more! Our goal is a dynamic campus culture in which students feel connected, engaged and excited about their middle school experience.
To do this, we need your help! Can you chaperone a dance? Help plan a festival? Supervise an occasional school lunch? Make a financial donation? No contribution is too small, and all of our collective time, energy and support will make a big difference.
Let us know if you are able to Volunteer at Montera:
Make a contribution if you are able: Montera Annual Giving
On a personal note, each of us is an education professional with a rising 8th grade student- Hector is CEO of a literacy non-profit and Raine a Community College Instructor/Counselor/Program Coordinator. We are committed to education, both personally and professionally, and will do our best to make this a dynamic and successful school year.
Enjoy your final weeks of summer and please join us for Pizza in the Park on August 6th!
