Narrative Writing
Topics:
Writing: Adding on to our small moments for our personal narratives. We also began cursive this week!
Reading: Lucy Calkins reading program unit on "Interpreting Characters". We are also in the process of learning Reader's Workshop procedures, and I am completing F&P assessments.
Math: We are differentiating in math using our Math Workshop model. This will vary slightly from week to week, but will always include leveled opportunities for the students to grow in math! For the most part, students will have math homework Monday - Thursday. It shouldn't take them more than 15 minutes or so. Some students are working on 3rd grade curriculum and some are on the 4th grade curriculum. This will change as students develop with their math skills!
Science: We began learning about how plant/animal internal and external structures help them to survive and grow.
Enrichment: Students began their research on the individual topics. The only thing the students should need help with is gathering materials if I don't have it here at school. Next week the students will work on their presentations. Presentations will be due October 2.
It's Updated! Check it Out!
- Resources -> Parent Resources.....Scroll down! I added some really important and interesting information about the NWEA MAP tests that the students took this week. Next week and in the coming weeks, we will take a deeper look at their data and use it to help make informed instructional decisions. We will talk more about this during our Fall conferences, but please let me know if you have any questions in the meantime!
