Rose Lane Principal Letter...
We've had a beautiful April, and we are so excited for all of the amazing things that will be happening in May. Most wonderful of all will be seeing how much our students have grown and will blossom during the last month of school.
Our state testing (AASA - Arizona's Academic Standards Assessment) has gone very smoothly and we are now down to just make-ups as we finish the week. This test is for 3rd and 4th grade students only, and includes reading, writing, and math. We will use this data over the summer to help identify the academic assets that students have gained this year, as well as any opportunities for additional growth next year. Along with a team of teacher representatives from every department and grade level, Mr. Reyes and the new Assistant Principal at Rose Lane will develop plans to meet our students' needs.
Next up for all K - 4th students at Rose Lane is our MAP testing in math and reading. These tests are district-driven, and we will also use this data to better understand how to meet the needs of all students when we return to school in August. In addition, our Rock-It Readers team is busy working 1 on 1 with all Kindergarten through 3rd graders to gather information about their strengths as readers, after a year of hard work and tremendous growth. Many kudos to Mrs. Brown, Mrs Nesbeitt, and Mrs. Flores for organizing this - it is a big job!
Here are a few more fun events that will be blooming in May:
- Our Open House/Art Show/Talent Show: We are looking forward to this event on Friday April 28th. This will be a great opportunity to visit your child's classroom, and then see the very creative works of art our students made this past quarter. Also, our Talent Show will happen the same night - seating in the cafeteria will be for families of performers only.
- The 3rd/4th Grade Performance on May 4th. Thanks, Specials area team and 3rd and 4th grade teachers, for a job well done. Parents - we'll see you at the Madison!
- Junior Achievement Day on May 12th. Shout-out to Ms. Frazier for her leadership, and to the 50+ volunteers who will be on campus that day to teach the lessons!
- One last Spirit Day on May 19th, to honor and celebrate our heritage.
- Our celebration for 4th graders, "Going Forth," which will be held on May 23rd on campus. Way to go, Mrs. Chavez and the 4th Grade team, for organizing this event, which is a beloved tradition at Rose Lane.
A whole bunch of staff appreciation events, to celebrate our fantastic front office personnel, cafeteria workers, school nurses, and of course, our amazing teachers! I am very proud to work with each and every one of them and I am grateful for all that they do. Have a wonderful weekend, a beautiful last few days of April, and an outstanding May!
