Are you participating in Hour of Code?
3D Printed Cars!
Think, Make, Innovate is Grant Wood AEA Digital Learning Team's makerspace challenge show. This challenge taps into creativity by rethinking a traditional car design, asking students to design their own parts using a 3D Design App & bring that imagination to life with the help of a 3D Printer. This show features the creativity of 1st grade class at North Linn Elementary.
We would love to see what you make! Join our Maker Community (http://www.dlgwaea.org/maker-community.html) by sending us your unique car design photos or videos to makerspace@gwaea.org or share links with us using this form and we will post them on our website.

The Classroom of the Future: And Your Future Starts
Today for the most part, the use of technologies in schools has done little to change schools and learning. Yet the affordances of these tools and resources have great potential. How are our best teachers taking full advantage? Dean Shareski, classroom teacher, technology consultant, and Community Manager for Discovery Education Canada will speak on fundamental concepts and dispositions teachers will need in order to achieve the level of engagement and empowerment we desire for our students.
December 2, 1-3:30pm
Students are taught how to share information about themselves online & Students are taught how to act respectfully online
Why This Matters
In today’s marketplace, content that our students create and share online is “becoming the new CV” (Richardson & Mancabelli, 2013).
“Instead of restricting access, we should educate young people to participate [in the digital world] responsibly, ethically, and safely. Through proper use of social networking sites, students learn social media etiquette and cultivate their digital citizenship” (Wang et al., 2013).
Students are online, how are we teaching them to be good digital citizens and build a positive digital footprint? If you want to learn more about what we can do contact your GWAEA technology consultant and take a look at Exploros which is a free resource that aligns with Common Sense Media information about Digital Citizenship.
