Free Meals for All Students
Beginning October 1, students will not be charged for meals
Good Afternoon,
The Wentzville School District’s application to extend all Summer Food Service Program waivers through December 31, 2020 (or as funding allows) has been approved. These waivers, provided by the USDA, allow school food service programs to offer breakfast and lunch to ALL students (virtual and in-person) free of charge regardless of the student’s income status.
Beginning Thursday, October, 1, 2020, ALL students in the Wentzville School District will not be charged for breakfast or lunch through December 31, 2020 (or as funding allows).
Please Note: This is only for a full breakfast or lunch, which must include a fruit or vegetable. A`la carte and premium meals (sold in middle and high only) will still be charged accordingly.
In addition, Wentzville School District residents not enrolled in school, between the ages of 1-18, may also sign up to receive meals each week from one of three meal distribution locations. Click on the link below to find out more information regarding meal distribution locations and times for Virtual Academy students and those not enrolled in the WSD.
“We are thrilled to extend our summer meal program and provide free meals for all children in our District,” said Child Nutrition Director Gwen Doyle. “We know that the pandemic has affected many of our families in a variety of ways and if we can help those families and provide nutritious meals for more kids, we are excited and happy to provide that.”
Any funds currently in your child’s lunch account will remain there until your child begins to purchase meals again in January, unless it is used to purchase extras (as described above) at the middle and high school levels. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to the Child Nutrition Department at 636-327-3858 ext. 21330.
Thank you,
