No Salcha Busing This Week!
Dear Salcha Families,
Our community was deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Jim Martin, the loving husband of our Health Aide, Sheena Martin, and father of four of our former students. He was an amazing, giving, and kind man who regularly helped our school, staff, and community. Many of our families are close with the Martins and they wanted to share that there will be a viewing Friday from 4-9pm at the Chapel of Chimes with Jim's Service this Saturday at 2pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in North Pole.
Reactions to death are varied and a wide range of emotion might be experienced by our children. You may want to discuss what your family can do to show their concern and sympathy for the Martin family. If you would like additional resources to help feel free to contact me and please keep their family in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn their loved one. Life is precious and fleeting. Hold your loved ones close.
Principal, Salcha Elementary
We have music again at Salcha! We am so excited to welcome back Sue Waltman who volunteered to transfer out to Salcha and Two Rivers schools to make sure all our students are receiving a general music education. We are fortunate in that Ms. Waltman also served as our orchestra teacher a few years ago and will be offering band and orchestra to our students soon. We will be alternating Music and PE with Two Rivers School. Our schedule is PE Mondays and Tuesdays, Music Wednesdays and Thursdays, with Music/PE alternating Fridays.
"Hello Salcha Families, It is truly good to be back here at Salcha Elementary school. My name is Sue Waltman and I am your new general music, band and orchestra teacher. I am excited to be teaching music again and being a part of your wonderful community. I hope to bring back all the joys of music making with my students and hope to support and enhance student learning here at Salcha Elementary School."

Request a COVID-19 Rapid Test
Our district is committed to providing and maintaining healthy environments for student to learn and for staff to work and teach. Considering the CDC's guidance, schools are using a "layered approach" to remain open for in-person learning which includes: practicing and teaching hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette, following daily cleaning protocols, 3-feet social distancing when possible, following local positive case rates and initiating a screening and rapid testing program.
Rapid COVID-19 testing is available for staff or student experiencing symptoms or designated as a close contact. You can schedule an appointment by clicking on the "Request COVID-19 Rapid Test" button located on the right hand side of our school website here or our district Mitigation Plans 2021-2022 page here.
