Writing
By Becca & Angela
In writing we did 4 main things and they are…..
Number 1: We reviewed how to write personal narratives by watching videos about writing the rough draft, and transition words. On Wednesday, we planned out the story.
Number 2: We put “said” to rest. We thought of words to replace said for example snapped, barked, scolded, squeaked, gasped, and demanded.
Number 3: We looked at other kids small moment stories and graded them 1-4 by their lead, craft, transitions, organization, elaboration, ending, and overall.
And lastly number 4: We wrote one of our best small moment stories in 45 minutes!!! When the 45 minutes are up, the teacher will send them out to get graded. We get graded 1-4. 4 is the best and 1 is the worst.
We had fun in writing and can't wait to get our grades!
Math
By AJ & Chris
Math was a BLAST! In math we took a test on fractions and our multiplication test. Before are fraction test we played Jeopardy.
Another thing we did in math this week was Fraction Number Lines. It’s hard at first but then it gets easier. For example, you would start the number line at 0 then it would go like 8 more spaces then you can number 0/8, ⅛, 2/8, ⅜, 4/8, ⅝, 6/8, ⅞, and 8/8 or 1 whole. Also we did circle fractions. That’s when you make a circle and then you cut it into fractions like what the picture is showing. The last thing we did in math was Linkit check in’s for fractions. There were 7 questions for each 3 check in’s.
That's it for the BLAST we had in Math!!!!!!!!!
Reading
By Natalie & Brady
In reading this week we did a whole bunch of stuff. We checked out this new app called Whooo’s Reading. We also took a little quiz on the app to make sure we understand what we are reading. We also of course continued our independent reading and we continued our class book called Winn-Dixie. Now let’s get into what we actually did this week.
In reading this week, we had a lot of fun. We had a lot to do. Last week we celebrated Read Across America week and Dr. Seuss’ birthday. We had a cafe for Dr. Seuss’ birthday. This week we started our character studies unit and wrote down what the characters said and did on a post-it note. We also wrote down character traits and character observations on a post-it note. We used these notes to make inferences on post-it’s.
We had a lot to do and we finished it all. Reading was a lot of fun this week.
