EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT
Central Office Communications: Week of January 2, 2022
SUPERINTENDENTS UPDATE
Egg Harbor Township School Community,
Happy New Year! Looks like 2022 is off to a snowy start that caused all school districts across the county to close. Thank you for being patient as important information was being gathered prior to being shared with you. I will always take the time to research reports and review data prior to making decisions. At this time we are closed due to the snowstorm. Unfortunately, the NJDOE has not approved a ‘snow day’ for virtual learning, therefore one day will be added to the school calendar at this time.
As for the COVID-19 virus, we are closely monitoring our reported cases, communicating with the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH), the Atlantic County Division of Public Health (ACDPH) and the NJDOE via the county superintendent. At this time, we plan for our schools to be open to serve our students academically, socially, and emotionally. Over Winter break, our schools have been cleaned and sanitized. This includes desks and desk shields; some replaced where needed.
We will assess the impact of our cases on a case by case, classroom by classroom, school by school, department by department basis and do our very best to keep schools safely open. Our Safe Return to School plan will be followed and encourages us all to all work together to ensure that our staff and students are safe in our schools. This involves correctly wearing a mask that covers the mouth and nose on school buses and in the school buildings (as per Executive Order 251). Parents need to complete the Health Affirmation Form and be sure to keep students at home if they are feeling sick. It is also helpful to get tested, sanitize, and practice social distancing. Together, we can make a difference.
Communication to parents will be by a phone call, messages in the parent portal, and via text messages and emails from the school district. Please know that I am not using social media for communication. Only rely upon direct information from me, in updates like this for accurate information. Although social media is a popular communication tool, public comments are not always accurate and do not always reflect the school district's current status or the decisions that are made based upon factual information and direction from the county and state levels.
Please be assured that we will closely monitor COVID -19 cases and the updates from the NJDOH and the ACDPH, as well any inclement weather. We are committed to our school district mission to EMBRACE, ENGAGE, and EDUCATE the students of the Egg Harbor Township School District.

STUDENT HEALTH AFFIRMATION
Every student attending EHT Schools must submit a health affirmation form. This form should be reviewed and completed by a parent/guardian and submitted on the first day of school. We ask that in an effort to maintain a safe and healthy environment, you assess your child(ren) every day prior to school and keep them home from school if symptoms are present.
Forms in both English and Spanish are accessible at the following LINK.
Please monitor your child or children for Covid like symptoms prior to sending them to school every day. As per the district health affirmation, Covid-19 like symptoms and Covid-19 situations related to contact tracing, testing and diagnoses are seen in the image above as a reminder. In addition, if a child in your home is exhibiting Covid-19 like symptoms, not only should they remain home and follow-up with their health care provider, but siblings should also remain home and follow the same protocol.

CLIMATE, CULTURE and #EHTPride
CLIMATE, CULTURE & #EHTPride
We are dedicated to learning together, growing together, and healing together within a positive school climate. Celebrations of recognition and reward for achievement, even the littlest steps, will occur in all of our schools as we value the importance of appreciation and respect. We have a lot of #EHTPride in taking care of our students and showcasing their achievements.
We are committed to setting a foundation of culture in our school that includes respect for diversity, inclusion and equity for ALL students and staff. To empower our school community to be positive, supportive, patient, and understanding. To unify all members around one central goal that includes nurturing a strong culture that allows students, teachers, staff, and community members to flourish as individuals and as a community.
With Every Hand Together, Every child, Everyday is provided a relevant learning experience. Our teachers collaborate in professional learning communities to review student progress in order to provide ALL students with the opportunity to learn at high levels. We know that in order to successfully educate each student, we must be cognizant of each student’s individual learning needs. This can only be accomplished if we work together to eliminate any predictability of achievement disparities by race, ethnicity, gender, language, disability, and/or economics. All faculty and staff participated in equity training during our professional learning days. Together, we can achieve more!
