Lyme disease is caused by Borrelia burgdorferi. Humans receive Lyme disease through the bite of an infected blacklegged tick. Some symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and skin rash. If Lyme is left untreated, it can spread to joints, the heart, and the nervous system causing permanent damage.
