Taylor Hamby
Taylor did a great Gallery Walk with her students last week. At each stage of the gallery walk, they analyzed a variety of primary and secondary sources regarding U.S. imperialism in a particular location (Cuba, Philippines, Hawaii, etc.) to answer an objective based question. It was interesting to eaves drop on the conversations the students were having about the sources. The engagement in the activity was high and the learning was spot on with the expectations from DPI. Great job Taylor!

ABC-Clio American History (District Subscription)
This is a site the district has a subscription to the American History portion. Your Media Center Coordinator can provide you with the school's password and login. If you were not aware of this resource, it is a wonderful tool! It is similar to Gale (above). It has a ton of primary resources that include perspectives on different topics. How has this been hiding?
ABC-Clio World Geography (district subscription)
Edgenuity
To gain access to this, you will want to work with your Instructional Facilitator and Data Processor. Using the Credit Recovery Site, a batch roster of your students (or the schools) can be sent to Brian Piekarski. He can then assist in the set up for your school.
World History
This week we are looking at how religion influenced political power and cultural unity during the Middle Ages, as well as religious and secular power struggles. This speech bubble activity may be helpful in having students practice vocabulary and checking their understanding of the overall ideas in the objectives. Additionally, these CR questions may be helpful to use a formative assessment.
The World Collaboration meeting will be held Saturday the 4th at Panera on Cloverdale from 9:00-11:30 am.
Civics and Economics
American 1
This week we are starting Unit 3 - the New Republic. Here is a reading activity for George Washington's Farewell Address. To check student understanding of the Washington and Adams presidencies, you might consider using these CR questions.

Message from Melissa
I know this is a day late. Sorry about that. Courtney and I had a meeting to prepare for the Assistant Super-attendants and Dr. Emory. So, time was eaten up with that on Friday and part of yesterday. Then, I was busy at schools after the meeting yesterday. Sigh.
Just a heads up, I will be having surgery on my wrist again on March 17th. So, I will be out of service for a while after that.
I hope everyone survived the ACT today and enjoy your early release tomorrow!
Have a great week. And, welcome to March.
Melissa
PS: A special thank you to Chris Borkowski at Reagan for sharing a State of Union activity for students to use tonight. I am sorry I did not get it out to you in time. But, here it is. Thank you so much Chris.
