VERIZON INNOVATIVE LEARNING SCHOOLS PROGRAM
Parkway is honored to be a part of the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools, or VILS program which gives all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students the opportunity to receive an iPad and a Verizon data plan to use during the school year.
The joint vision of Verizon and Parkway is to improve student achievement by engaging students with technology and learning resources in new and innovative ways.
We will be hosting an iPad Rollout Celebration for students and families, where Parkway middle schoolers will receive their devices. More information about the device distribution event will be sent home on Monday, November 28, 2022, so please be on the lookout for an informational packet that will be sent home with students. The packet will include required forms which must be completed by parents.
The registering parent/guardian must attend a MANDATORY Parent orientation and COMPLETE ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS before any device will be given to your child.
A second part of the prerequisite for receiving an iPad learning tool for the 2022-2023 school year, requires students to complete a Canvas course which includes 6 Digital Citizenship Nearpod lessons. Failure to do so will delay the assigning of the iPad. The first 25 students in each grade level will be recognized. The course also includes the VILS Responsibilities and Protocols for parents and students to complete together.
We look forward to seeing all our middle school students and their families at our iPad Rollout Celebration event. Remember to watch for the VILS informational packet that will be sent home soon.
If you have any questions regarding the iPad distribution process, please email Ms. Amy Stramanak, VILS Coach for more information at amy.stramanak@browardschools.com
