The eastern tiger swallowtail lives in deciduous woods along streams, rivers and swamps.The Eastern Tiger swallowtail ranges from Alaska and the Hudsonian zone and Canada to the southern united states and East of the Rocky Mountains.
The life cycle
Starts as a tiny yellow-green egg, Then hatches to go to a green or brown caterpillar (have eye spots but no eyes). Then go's to a light brown pupa attached to a plant stem, Then hatches to a butterfly.
Body shape and feeding habits
They are strong and quick fliers, males are bright colored, females are brights yellow and blue or yellow and black. male are one colored yellow. They sip liquid food using a tube like proboscis, which is long, flexible "tongue".
