Rocks- Naturally formed mass of mineral matter

2. Made up of one or more types of minerals
3. Proportion of different minerals may vary
Minerals- A natural solid substance
4 Characteristics-
1. Forms in nature
2. is a solid
3. has a definite chemical makeup
4. has a crystal structure
Pumice Stone
This rock is usually ground up and used in soaps or household cleaners.
Granite
This rock is used in construction and often used to make counter tops.
Obsidian
This rock id often used to make weapons or some surgical instruments.
Clastic
Fragments of rock put together and often used for house floors or walls.
Limestone
Used in manufacturing. Used in the manufacture of paper and a coating on chewing gum.
Coal
This rock is used in power plants to make electricity.
Shale
Shale is used as a component to brick and cement.
Gabbro
Gabbro is used as a black granite, railroad ballast or road metal.
Sandstone
Sandstone has a rough texture and is used in construction.
Schist
Schist is used as a building stone.
Gneiss
Gneiss rocks are used as building stones or other constructional purposes.
Quartzite
Has crystal like features and is used in construction.
Marble
Marble is used to make lots of things from counter tops to statues and other quality things.
Aluminum
Aluminum is used in transportation (automobiles) and construction.
Gold
Used in jewelry, arts, and other kinds of instruments.
