Bulldog Bulletin
Elementary School- April, 2023
Hello Honeoye Families!
It's hard to believe when looking out the window today, that it won't be long until we are shedding our coats and enjoying the warm gentle breeze that comes with Spring. We are beginning preparations for our many end-of-year celebrations including PTA sponsored Muffins with someone Magnificent, Kindergarten Graduation, Field Day (or as we like to call it, Dog Gone Fun Day!), Spring Concerts, Awards Ceremony, 5th Grade Moving Up, Canandaigua Lake Watershed visits, Summer Learning Academy, and more!
We are also beginning to think about next year. Each spring, we participate in a thorough and thoughtful process to place students in classes for the fall. In collaboration with classroom teachers, special area teachers, and support staff, our goal is to create classes that ...
are balanced with all types of learners across all available classes considering academics, social skills, gender and other factors.
create a positive learning and social environment for all students, considering past experiences with peers and learning needs.
provide the most positive and productive transition for your child.
If there is something you would like to our team to consider when placing your child for next year, please send an email to your current classroom teacher with your recommendations. You may also email me at natalie.pfluke@honeoye.org
Important message- Families, please know that creating a safe and supportive learning environment is very important to me. We strive to make sure every student entering our building feels comfortable and safe every day. In all of our classrooms, there are many ways in which we are consistently helping our students develop skills they need to create positive peer relationships, some of which include:
- Morning Meeting
- Zones of Regulation
- Second Step
- Digital Citizenship
- Too Good For Violence
- PBIS
- Safe Harbors
- (And more)
Additionally, our Student Support Team meets weekly (at minimum) to discuss different approaches and interventions to support each and every student in our elementary school. If at any time you feel your child might be experiencing negative peer interactions or if you have a concern about a social exchange, please don't hesitate to call me at any time. I emphasize that students UPK-5 are learning and growing in this area each and everyday. I am always available to talk more about any of this if you have questions, concerns, suggestions- or just want to chat. My door is always open.
Enjoy a beautiful rest of the week,
Natalie Pfluke
The power of positivity
I shared this last year, but I couldn't help but share it again. Please take a few minutes to view this heartwarming clip sharing themes of love, acceptance, and having a positive self-image. It's less than 3 minutes- and sure to have a lasting impact. Enjoy!
School Library Month
April is School Library Month and National Library Week is April 23-29. During the month of April we talk about all things library, sport new Bulldogs Read T-shirts, and highlight amazing authors & illustrators! We want to celebrate all things that make our Elementary School Library special. The month comes to a close with the Scholastic Buy 1, Get 1 Book Fair April 4/24 - 4/28. More details will come via ParentSquare closer to those dates. We hope you will join us in celebrating libraries this month - and beyond!

Exciting Watershed Education opportunity
We are happy to announce we have once again partnered with the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Education Program (WEP), and they will be joining us April 12th-14th to work with our students. The program aims to increase student awareness of water quality issues and empower our children to become stewards of their watersheds through their daily actions. By introducing connections between human activity and watershed health, students gain a greater appreciation for their roles and responsibilities as citizens of a greater watershed community.
