May 22, 2020
Dear West Families,
The last day for sack lunches provided by Grand Forks Public Schools will be May 28th.
St. Joseph's Social Care and Thrift Store plans to start their Summer Feeding Program June 1st and will run it through August 14th. They will serve at Richards West Park, University Park, Smiley Park, LaGrave Learning Center, Elks Park, Bringewatt Park, Columbia Square and Winterland Park in Grand Forks and Itts Williams Park in East Grand Forks.
Attached, you will find the agenda from our Annual Schoolwide Title 1 meeting for staff that was held on May 20, 2020.
Finally, the West Staff are excited to host a "Reverse Parade" to celebrate the end of the 2020-2021 school year! Staff will be standing around West Elementary School, on North 25th Street and 6th Ave North, from 5:00-5:30pm on Thursday, May 28. You are invited to drive around West School and wave during this time. We are excited to see you there!
This was not the ending to this school year that we expected, but we appreciate all you have done to ensure your student continued to learn through the distant learning platform. More information will be forthcoming regarding summer school and the 2020-2021 school year. Have a great summer!

Device Collection Information
Below you will find the details of the school's device, textbook, and library book collection process. We will collect all materials in order to sanitize and prepare them for future student use. During this collection process, GFPS employees will follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention safety guidelines, including the following: maintaining a social distance of at least six feet, staggering of collection times, using frequent hand washing/sanitizing, and wearing face masks. We appreciate your support as we work to safely collect all distributed materials. Please take a moment to review the process and information below:
- Please label each device and charger with your child’s name prior to your arrival. Masking tape, scotch tape, painter’s tape, or sticky notes will not damage the device if placed on the outside case.
- Please ensure that you return all materials, including devices with their chargers.
- Please wear a mask and remain in your vehicle during drop off.
- Please communicate with us by calling the school office at (701)746-2310 if you have questions or need support in the materials collection process.
- Items that are not returned will result in your family being charged for the full purchase price of the device/materials and/or legal action. Again, please contact the school office at (701)746-2310 if you need support in this process.
- Days are assigned by grade level; however, sibling devices may be collected on the same day.
Thank you for your continued support through this unique and challenging time. We are so grateful for your continued partnership.
