Letter from the Principal
Dear Tualatin Black Bear Families,
We have officially finished the second quarter for this school year and look forward to starting the third quarter on Monday. This also means that we are ready to welcome some new and returning students and families from distance learning who have been part of the Tigard-Tualatin Virtual Academy. We can’t wait to see you on Monday! Please see other information and updates in this letter.
Masking Guidance Update: Monday, Feb. 7 - It is strongly recommended, but not required, for students K-12 to wear masks during outdoor activities. This includes recess, extracurricular activities, P.E. classes, etc. Students are required to wear masks during indoor P.E. classes. Masks are required indoors.
Celebrating Black History Month - Feb. 1 - March 1: Here is a great video explaining the history of Black History Month. Some ideas for celebrating Black History Month at home are to read books by Black authors or about historical figures based on your child’s interests. Want to tie in Black History Month with Oregon’s history? Check out Oregon Black Pioneers! Also, check in with your child, or your child’s teacher, to find out how we are celebrating Black History Month in classrooms.
Bev Farnsworth Award - Classified Employee of the Year: Please contact our office, or your child’s teacher, if you would like to submit a letter of support for a nomination of a Tualatin Elementary classified staff member for Classified Employee of the Year - Deadline is February 11th.
Reminder to Save the Date: Kindergarten registration is tentatively scheduled for February 16th from 4-6 PM. This will now be a virtual event in response to updated guidance for school gatherings with family members. We will start planning an in-person event for later this spring. Registration is online at: https://www.ttsdschools.org/Domain/50 or here. If your PreK student is in one of Teacher Adam’s classes then you are already registered for this fall. Contact our office with questions
Warm Regards,
Mr. Kingery
Principal

Help Bridge the Gap for our Students!
The Foundation for Tigard Tualatin Schools (FTTS) annual Fund Drive is happening now! Donations from the drive help enrich our students' education. Your donations hire part-time teachers, support innovative teaching ideas and provide college scholarships.
The goal is to raise $75,000 during this year's Fund Drive! That will put the Foundation on track to give each school a $10,000 check for their School Grant, to be used to fund teacher hours that will bridge their most pressing instructional gap. More teachers, more learning!!
Check out all the ways that The Foundation for Tigard Tualatin Schools has helped Tualatin Elementary and donate today!
