Big picture

GES continues our focus on demonstrating Kind Words and Actions. Part of showing kindness is responding to others in need. When we see someone needs help, we look for ways to do this. Many of you may have heard about the recent flooding in Kentucky. Two Letcher County schools had their school libraries destroyed by flood waters. GES is responding to this community in need by collecting gently used books. Books will be boxed and shipped to the schools in need. Books will be collected at GES from September 6-September 16. Your child can drop off the book donations at the designated tables in the GES lobby. Thank you for helping us help the Letcher County schools rebuild their libraries.

Unity Tickets

Big picture

We had so much fun this week focusing on "U", using kind words and actions. Our students are doing a great job of being aware of their actions and words. If your child receives a Unity Ticket, make sure to ask them what they did to earn it and how did it make the people around them feel. We are working hard to make the connection between our actions and how it impacts others. Next week's focus will be "N" need to keep our hands, feet, and objects to ourselves". To help your child prepare for this, you can talk as a family about how your child can demonstrate the unity expectations.

Week of 9/6-Need to keep our hands, feet, and objects to ourselves

Week of 9/12-I will follow directions the first time given

Week of 9/18-Take ownership of our actions and learning

Week of 9/26-Yield and walk silently throughout our school

Thank you for supporting our efforts to develop a kind, safe, and welcoming school. You are an important part of our GES Community and we appreciate you!
