Matt's Monday Memo
November 5, 2018
Good morning, Staff,
To be frank, I am a bit joyless in matters we have had lately, such as Halloween costumes and picture staging. I have yielded to others' suggestions in the attempt to serve others' attraction to such events that we have shared and enjoyed. I am glad to have moved a bit on my entrenched thinking as I have heard and seen others' responses to items I might have dismissed. Let us endeavor to practice the uncomfortable in order to grow individually and collectively.
I would ask that you take a moment to provide your thoughts around conferences as we have sent a similar one to our parents. I will share out the results as we wrap up, and then we will look to adjust our format as warranted.

Celebrations
Special thanks to Angela Thompson and Heather Koelling for their work in organizing the Community Open House. This is such a great opportunity for us to show off our school and opportunities to the entire community. We had over 200 community members, alumni, and future students attend the event. Thanks to the following teachers and staff members for giving up part of their weekend to assist: Jennedy Lombard, Frank Mandernach, Jocelyn Reiss, Dane Williams, Donald Johnson, Todd Schaefer, Kim Thomas, Julie Burchett, Zach Smith, Linda Coleman, Skylar Garcia, David Kraus, Nicholas Kirschman, Greg Fick, Jill Nabena, Amie Shea, Lisa Borror, Rebecca Frese, Diane Stromberg, Sandy Coblitz, Eric Dunn, Mary Ann Schafer, and the custodial crew. In addition, we had close to 150 students volunteer their time to assist. Special thanks to Angela for all of her hard work in making this a successful day.
The 80th annual Friendship Dance was held at Kirkwood Saturday evening. Congratulations to Sterling Smith and Claire Veldhuizen for being crowned King and Queen. Everyone behaved well.
Amie Shea shared, "Ray McIntyre's design was accepted into the Lindenwood fashion show on December 7. He designed and constructed two garments. He will have Rachel Fisher as his model, he designed a woman's garment, so he needs a female model for the show. There are two showings one at 10 and one at noon. Both students will be at Lindenwood at 8:00 and will participate in both shows and the awards ceremony afterwards." Congratulations, Ray!
Special thanks to STAR and the basketball team for making over 1200 sandwiches last week for the needy.
