Saint Kateri School's Weekly Newsletter ~ December 9, 2020

Principal Newsletter
Hello Saint Kateri School families ~
The children had such a great time, learning about St. Nicholas and celebrating his feast day last Friday. This year 5th grade held a St. Nicholas Day Prayer Service in Church and did a great job. Thank you to Fr. Davis for stepping in for St. Nicholas, speaking at the prayer service and also greeting the students, in his bishop's red robe, asking them how they were preparing for the birth of Baby Jesus. So meaningful ~ Thank you for all the donations collected on St. Nicholas Day. We had two full carts of toiletries and baby items to bring to Bethany House.
This year our Christmas Tea will look a little different and a little BIGGER! The pandemic has hits everyone very hard ~ and loneliness and isolation has affected our elderly in a huge way. In years past we have served in our Parish Center up to 60 seniors from our community. This year we have requests for up to 120 that are in need. We have elderly priests and religious living at the St. Joseph's Motherhouse that are not able to have visitors and also not able to visit with each other due to the COVID restrictions. So, rather than turn anyone away we are asking our community to make these bigger wishes come true ~
Take a look at our donation request flyer and see if there is anything that your family is able to provide. In school our students will be getting their craft on ~ decorating gift bags, making ornaments, creating Christmas cards ~ they will also be choosing the gift to include in their gift bag. Thank you for your generosity!
It was snowing today so it is time to talk School Closings! If there are weather related conditions that cause West Irondequoit to close, Saint Kateri School will also be closed. Please stay tuned to local radio and television channels for listings of school closings. SKS will also send out a Robo Call to all families with closing information.
God bless you and your family this 2nd week of Advent!

NEWS from the MAIN OFFICE:
- Daily Health Checks should be into PUP before 7:30am. We continue to send out daily phone and text reminders to help our families be compliant ~ we all forget sometimes. The Main Office is working to see if there is a way to only notify families that are scheduled for learning that day as this is impacting our preschool students that do not come every day.
- Please remember to show your Car Tag each day during dismissal ~ this helps tremendously with making sure dismissal runs smoothly, especially when we have staff helping out that are not as familiar with the children and their families as the regular car line teachers.
- Please sign the Distance Learning acknowledgement that you received last week and send it in as soon as possible. All families should have received it by now. Please direct any questions to your child's teacher or to Terri.Morgan@dor.org
