Principal's Message
Greetings Fir Grove Families!
As we head into our last few weeks of school, students and staff are looking forward to Field Day, Year End Parties, and the Awards Assembly. Fourth Grade will be going on the Oregon Trail for a week. Fifth Grade is visiting Western Oregon State University. Teachers are squeezing the last bit of learning into our remaining time together.
We have received our initial certified staffing allocation for the 2018-19 school year. Although many staffing decisions are still up in the air, we do know that we will have three teachers at each grade level. Despite our projected student enrollment declining by 20 students, we are expecting the number of certified staff to stay the same next year. Thank you all who voted for the Local Levy! It means that we will still have 18 classroom teachers next year.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership with your child(ren)’s education. If at any time you have questions, concerns, or comments, I encourage you to give me a call, send an email, or attend the next PTO meeting. We encourage and welcome all communication.
Warmly,
Erin Miles

ParentVue
The administration of our state assessment will take place between May 1 and June 8.
Beginning this year, state test scores are available in ParentVUE! You will be able to see your child’s test results sooner than in prior years with less impact on the environment. For the English Language and Math tests, a student’s score is available in ParentVUE two weeks after both parts of the test are completed. Science test scores are available in Parent VUE three days after the test is completed. The Testing Information tab in ParentVUE has links to additional information about your child’s scores. If you need assistance activating a ParentVUE account, please contact Fir Grove.
Students whose parents/guardians do not have an active ParentVUE account will receive a paper report of test scores. Paper score reports will be sent home with students on the last day of school. Score reports will be mailed over the summer for students with test results that arrive after the paper score reports are printed in June. Students with at least one parent/guardian with ParentVUE access may request a printed report by contacting Kay Jenkins by email at kay_jenkins@beaverton.k12.or.us or by phone at 503.356.4594.
Seesaw: Archiving Student Work

Summer Lunch @ Fir Grove
This summer, children can enjoy free lunches through the Summer Food Service Program sponsored by Beaverton School District Nutrition Services Department. The Summer Food Service Program is a federally-funded nutrition program open to all children ages 1-18 years. Adults can eat for just $3.50. No applications or registration are necessary, and all children and teens are welcome. In addition to lunch, some sites offer breakfast in conjunction to scheduled summer school programs.
All children are encouraged and welcome to come join in the fun! Bring your children or tell a friend. Lunches will be served Mon. - Fri., June 25 through August 15, 2018, 11:00-12:00.
We are also partnering with THPRD to again offer the RecMobile for great fun, friends and activities to keep kids busy this summer. Wednesdays, 9:00-11:00 am.
To find other meal sites near you, text the word “FOOD” to 877-877 or visit the Beaverton School District Summer Food Service Program webpage for a complete list of Summer Food Service Program sites, dates and times.
Music Notes
Hear ye, hear ye! We are proud to announce this year’s list of Recorder Hall of Fame Inductees.
Students who passed recorder songs totaling 75 points or more have their names added to a poster on the music room door along with all others from the past six years. This year, 5th grader Tenaya Doyle made history by becoming the first Fir Grove student ever to reach 200 points.
5th Grade: 4th Grade:

One star next to a students’ name indicates they are in the “100 Point Club” and two stars indicates they are in the “200 Point Club”. In case you are wondering what a feat this is, here’s the list of the songs Tenaya played to reach 200 points total: Hot Cross Buns, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Au Clair de la Lune, Jingle Bells, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Shoheen Sho, Oh Christmas Tree, Einini, Star Wars, Puff the Magic Dragon, Silent Night, and Sing Me Another. WOW!! The other Hall-of-Famers played almost that many songs, too...
Congratulations everyone!!
