Parents of the Class of 2025
It will be our turn to host PROM 2024 next year and we are trying to get a head start on fundraising so that we can reserve a super cool venue early on! While we will be scheduling many fundraisers over the next year, one of the easiest ways to help us increase our account amount is by a simple donation through myschoolbucks! Please scan the QR code and donate--any amount helps! Thanks so much--we are looking forward to hosting an amazing PROM 2024!

Free and Reduced-Price Meal News
As a reminder, LVISD transitioned back to Free and Reduced-Price Meals for the 22-23 school year. The federal government is no longer funding the free lunch program, which was part of the COVID-19 pandemic aid package. All families are encouraged to fill out the Free and Reduced-Price Meals applications. If your child previously received free or reduced-priced meals, a new application must be received to determine if your child still qualifies. Previous free and reduced-meal eligibility has now expired. You can fill out the Free & Reduced Meal application online at MySchoolApps by clicking on the following links:
For questions regarding applications, please contact Michelle Jackson, and for questions regarding student purchases, please contact Jennifer Porter.
Parking Permits
Parking permits are $35 and can be paid for online at the link below. Students should complete the form (they can pick them up from the front office) and show payment confirmation in order to receive a permit.
Have you heard of the Lago Vista ISD Education Foundation?
We have been around for many years and are a foundation that fundraises to give grants to educators in our district. Those grants fund equipment and supplies for students. Lago Vista ISD students are the direct beneficiaries of all of our efforts.
We are currently looking for community volunteers to help with our Souper Bowl Raffle Sales.
You can learn more about how to help and who we are on our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/LVISDEF, our website, https://www.lvisdeftx.com or by emailing lvisdeftx@gmail.com.
When LVISD students thrive, our community does too!

IMPORTANT UPDATES regarding Concessions for Spring 2023: The new turf fields for both baseball and softball have been completed and our players and coaches are enjoying the new fields! If you haven't had a chance to get a good look at them yet, we invite our Viking families to come out for the evening and catch a game or at least a couple innings! Baseball and softball each have their own concession stands and they actually have the best view of the field!!

Baseball -- https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C044CAFAF23A4F85-20231
Coach Walker along with Coaches Currie and Woosley and our baseball teams are so excited and grateful about the new turf field! So much so that Lago is hosting 2 baseball tournaments! It's going to be 5 days of nonstop hitting, running and sliding in the dirt and lots of grilled food and snacks!! LET'S GO LAGO!
JV Baseball Tournament (2 days -- Friday, Feb. 24th - Saturday, Feb. 25th) -- https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C044CAFAF23A4F85-20233
Northshore Varsity Baseball Tournament (3 days -- Thursday, March 2nd - Saturday, March 4th) -- https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C044CAFAF23A4F85-20232
The football field is still under construction as they're in the final stages of installing the new turf which will be utilized for both football and soccer play! The ice storm pushed the construction schedule back a couple weeks so our LVHS soccer teams will continue playing at Sisemore Field (located at LVMS) for the remainder of the season. Once the turf field has been completed, work on the field event areas will begin along with resurfacing of the track. With that being said, Lago Vista will not be hosting any high school or middle school track meets for the 2023 season. So many of us parents look forward to our home T&F meets but it's important to remember that with growth comes change - new facilities and better equipment! We're so proud to be a part of Viking Nation and support our student athletes. GO VIKINGS!!

Tennis Courts: Construction of the new tennis courts will start later in the Spring/Summer and will be ready for the Fall season. There will be 4 lit courts and seating for spectators.
DUE DATE FOR SCHOLARSHIPS: Wednesday, March 22nd
The LVHS general scholarship application and the Booster Club scholarship application are two separate forms. Hard copies of each application are available from the counselor, Mrs. Clark. Both the general scholarship application and Booster Club application need to be turned into Mrs. Clark by the due date. Late submissions will not be accepted. If students and/or parents have any questions about the scholarship process, please contact Lara Clark directly (email: lclark@lagovistaisd.net.).
Guidelines for Senior athletes who may qualify for an athletic scholarship:
● Families must be active members of the Athletic Booster Club for EVERY year that the student athlete participates in sports.
● Parents who are active members must have paid the membership dues and have volunteered in our fundraising efforts. Concessions are the Club’s biggest fundraiser and it affords us the opportunity to offer scholarships to our graduating student athletes.
● Parents or the student athlete MUST have volunteered in the Athletic Booster Club concession stands at least two shifts per year, per sport, that the student athlete participated in.
● Applicants must have participated or are currently participating at the Varsity level to be considered for a scholarship. Applicant refers to: player, team manager, athletic student trainer, cheerleader and [dancer].
● Applicants will need to submit and complete the community application provided by the school AND the LV Viking Booster Club Supplement by the due date. No late applications will be considered.
● Applications are due in March. (Exact date determined by LVHS counselor each school year.) Please check with the LVHS counselor for specific details about any scholarships offered through LVHS.
For those families who have not fulfilled their volunteer hours, there's still plenty of time to sign up and help out with Spring sports! The Booster Club recognizes that all of us parents are multitasking and most families typically have several children participating in different sports. We want to ensure that each family has the opportunity to sign up whether it be for a JV game, Varsity game or tournament that's played over the weekend. We're always needing additional volunteers to help in concessions!
Covid Protocols
Dear Parents,
With a new year back in gear, we wanted to update everyone on this year's Covid Protocol. Instead of students staying home for any single Covid symptom, we have differentiated the symptoms into milder and more serious ones. Please see the different symptom lists here. The number of restricted days has also changed from 10 days to 5 days of isolation.
We hope this helps clarify the process for everyone.
Please don't hesitate to call your nurse if you have questions.
Note from Nurse Carmichael
For all my families who need specialized diets, this is a wonderful new tool
I found from FARE.
FARE is the site most used by families with allergy concerns but this new tool
helps anyone looking for help choosing the foods that are right for them.
(Vegan, Gluten free, Keto, FODMAP, Mediterranean, you name it... Also what
foods to avoid if on certain medications.)
While it does promote foods by certain manufacturers, it is very instructive
in general as you learn about foods that fit and foods that don't. You still need
to be a careful label reader.
Click here for the website and have fun exploring!
Every Wednesday in LVISD is college day! Students should wear their favorite college t-shirt!
