Dealey Dragon Update
November 13, 2018
Dealey Families,
Last year at Bryan Adams, we had the good fortune of working with the Momentous Institute of Dallas (https://momentousinstitute.org) to train on school wide Social Emotional Learning initiatives. One very powerful and simple initiative that we adopted was to practice gratitude. It is a practice I try to maintain in my daily life, and I am believer. I know how great Ms. Henderson and I felt on Friday after delivering our very small and silly gratitude treats to the staff. I have seen many examples around Dealey - the writing assignments displayed in 1-3, the task Bulletin Board created outside of the cafeteria by Ms. Henderson, and much of the discussion during Global Friday was relevant to practicing gratitude.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I wanted to share with you some more information about practicing gratitude in schools. Please check out this short video for some reasons why practicing gratitude is good for us and some easy ideas on how to do it: https://youtu.be/sCV-mEsASLA and here is a link for some family activities you can practice for gratitude https://momentousinstitute.org/blog/our-thanksgiving-traditions
I am grateful for all of you and the work you do every day to support our students and staff!
Thank you and enjoy your well deserved break!
Ms. Wing
