I picked this article because always when i see a news about an Icelandic doing well oversees I get happy. Iceland is a small country and when you are known for what you do it isn’t that a big deal but when someone is doing well oversees everyone in Iceland are so proud.

The award, which recognises the most-played song of last year, sees Smith's Stay With Me challenge Ezra's Budapest and Rather Be from Clean Bandit. The annual awards, now in their 60th year, celebrate songwriting and composing and are voted for by writers. They will be presented at a ceremony in London on 21 May.In January, songwriter Tom Petty was given a writing credit on Stay With Me, because of the similarities to his 1989 track I Won't Back Down.It was "amicably" agreed Petty and his collaborator Jeff Lynne would be credited as co-writers of the track. But, under the rules, set by BASCA (the British Society of Songwriters, Composers and Authors), Lynne and Petty would not be eligible to share an Ivor Novello award, as they received less than 15% of the writing credit.

Rather Be, featuring Jess Glynne, and written by James Napier and Jack Patterson, is also up for best contemporary song, alongside alt-J's Every Other Freckle and Two Weeks, performed by FKA Twigs.

Hozier's Take Me to Church is nominated for best song musically and lyrically, as is Above The Clouds of Pompeii, by Bear's Den. The shortlist is rounded off by Ben Howard's I Forget Where We Were

In the best album category, Bombay Bicycle Club are nominated for So Long, See You Tomorrow, but face competition from Wild Beasts for Present Tense, and the eponymous debut album from Brighton two-piece Royal Blood.

Ted talk: Brian Dettmer: Old books reborn as art

Brian Dettmer: Old books reborn as art:

This ted talk shows how you can take an old book and make it something completely different. Brian Dettmer makes these amazing sculptures out of books. He makes them by sealing the edges of the book with a thick varnish so it becomes a solid material but the pages inside the book is still loose, and then he is carving into the book without moving or adding anything. It is amazing how he does this and so different from what we usually see.

I picked this ted talk because it is something new, that hasn’t been done very often. I thought it was so cool how he takes one kind of art form and does completely different kind of an art form.

Ted Talk: Haas&Hahn: How painting can transform communities

Haas&Hahn: How painting can transform communities:

In this Ted talk Haas and Hahn talk about how there idea came to paint a hill of houses in Rio and the journey how they did it. They started when they were shooting a documentary in the neighborhood and they got this idea when they looked over the hill. They started with 3 houses and then did a road. Then they were asked to do it in Philly in USA. They started a crowdfund and are now doing they whole hill in Rio.

The reason why I picked this Ted talk is because I think it´s amazing to think this big of an idea and going through with it like they are doing.
