Tiger Times
NEWS AND INFO FOR SLATER STAFF 11.11
This month, the admin team would like to show our thanks for YOU! We will be giving each teacher a 30 minute break during the month of November. You can use this 30 minutes to have us hold a class for you or complete a task (such as making copies, grading papers, holding a particular student, teaching a small group, etc.).

This week we sent 202 messages to families. This was a decline of 63 messages in comparison to the prior week. We also saw a decline in photos and shared videos dropping from 60 to 20. Our positive student feedback shot back up this week, growing, from 83% to 89%, just 1% away from our goal of 90% positive feedback school wide.
The discipline task force is almost done meeting with all of the teams. We are close to completion of the ClassDojo revamp. In the meantime, if you haven’t done so, please add Principal Kemp, Dean Amos, Dean Moultrie and Coach Turner as co-teachers if you have not done so already. Please reach out to any parents that have not connected with your ClassDojo. Contact Ms. Woods if you need additional support.

This Week:
- Interdisciplinary connections and engagement in inquiry to understand the problem
Next Steps
The most important part of project design is the project calendar. Make sure you backwards plan the culminating tasks students will complete so that they are engaged in PBL throughout the quarter, rather than right before the showcase.

BE ADVISED: Thanks to all of you who have made an effort to replace your ID badges. The audit has been pushed back to ensure everyone is prepared. If you do not have a badge be sure to replace it ASAP. It’s mandatory that ID Badges be worn and must be visible every second that you are at work.
Friendly Reminders: ·
- Don’t let arguments brew! Immediately intervene anytime you see students in conflict. Remember it only takes a moment for a spark to turn into a fire.
- Students under your supervision should be monitored closely. ·Remember, students sent outside of your room MUST have hall passes. There will be an upcoming hall pass sweep. ·
- Keep in mind we can never put students out or invite students to leave. You must visually ensure a student that you have sent to colleague for cool down actually reaches the room you sent them to.

Culture Resource of the Week
Keeping in line with our Compassion Initiative, this week’s resource is The Compassion Project.
“The Compassion Project is the first-of-its-kind, national comprehensive initiative to provide compassion education to elementary school students across the US. Our mission is to ensure that every primary school student in the US understands what compassion is and how to demonstrate it in their lives.
It is a no-cost program designed to help educators facilitate lessons around fundamental Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills. The 15-week curriculum combines engaging animated videos, classroom-based lessons, and digital activities into a toolkit that any educator can use.”
During the coming weeks we will unpack the 15 week lessons. This could be a great resource for our morning SEL block.
