We will discuss The New Times Magazine edition titled, 1619 Project. Copies of this magazine can be picked up from Pr. Ryan. A copy is also available in google doc format. Please email Pr. Heather if you'd like to receive the magazine digitally.

"The 1619 Project is an ongoing project developed by The New York Times Magazine in 2019 with the goal of re-examining the legacy of slavery in the United States and timed for the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first Africans in Virginia." The magazine is made up a number of articles, photos, and historical timelines.

We will discuss So You Want to Talk about Race by Ijeoma Oluo

"In So You Want to Talk About Race, Ijeoma Oluo guides readers of all races through subjects ranging from intersectionality and affirmative action to "model minorities" in an attempt to make the seemingly impossible possible: honest conversations about race and racism, and how they infect almost every aspect of American life." by National Book Review
