Integrated Core

We wrapped up our civics and government unit last week with the election of our animal class presidents. The kids had a lot of fun with this process. They worked in small groups to create an animal candidate that wanted to fix a problem and help the class to be more successful. They created campaign and slogan posters, gave campaign speeches, and then voted for their favorite candidate.

This week we will begin our Life Science Unit which focuses on structure, function, and information processing.

This week we will be working on Topic 8: Developing Fluency: Multiplying by 2-digit Numbers. We will take our test over Topic 8 on Tuesday, November 22.

Please Note: The majority of what we will be doing the rest of the year is based on the knowledge of basic multiplication and division facts. If your student has them mastered, that is fantastic. If your student is still struggling to quickly recall the basic facts he or she may encounter difficulties as we begin to move into long division, fractions, decimals, and other math concepts. It is important for fourth graders to continue practicing their multiplication and division facts so it will be easier for them to understand other math topics that will be coming soon. Please touch base with your student regarding their fact practice boot camp progress. If your child is unsure, feel free to email your child's teacher to check on progress and what facts still need practice. Thank you so much for your support from home.
