The Freshman Focus
February 28, 2020
Ben Davis Ninth Grade Center
Principal's Corner
It has been a great few weeks at Ben Davis Ninth Grade Center. We honored our Straight A students with a luncheon and will honor our Top 100 soon with a breakfast. We are currently rolling into the heart of semester two. After Spring Break we will have another opportunity for academic support with late buses running Tuesday and Thursday from 4/14-5/7 and Monday-Thursday each week from 5/11-5/28. We appreciate your support in maximizing this time for our students to master content and earn credits.
We are also excited to finalize many of our wonderful Spring ceremonies such as our Honor Society Induction, Freshmen Farewell, and Evening of Excellence. Along with these events we also look forward to our Spring Band, Choir, and Orchestra concerts. It is an exciting time of the year when our students have an opportunity to display the amazing and talented young adults that they are.
Finally, our 3rd nine weeks report cards will be distributed on Thursday, March 19. This is a very important checkpoint as we move past the half way point of semester two and into the final stretch of the school year. Our mission of ensuring students complete their freshmen year with a minimum of 12 credits continues to be our focus during this time. Please take this opportunity to speak with your student about their grades and connect with teachers if you have questions. This is an exciting time for our students as they prepare to transition to BDHS or BDU next school year. As we pause to reflect on their growth we see a group that is ready to achieve at a high level during the 19-20 school year and beyond.

Visit the event website for more infomation https://sites.google.com/wayne.k12.in.us/rosiecon/authors. Over 20 authors will be in attendance.

This is an annually changing recommended reading list of young adult titles sponsored by the Indiana Library Federation. The event will connect readers directly with authors, a well-known reading engagement tactic. Ticket prices for the event are $20. If you use the code Wayne, tickets will only be $10.
