Celebrations
I want to thank George and Alex for the planning and implementation of the Warrior Pride Day. It was a huge success! Students were actively participating in the events, teams were competing against one another, and everything ran smoothly. I loved seeing the sea of blue when students were walking across campus to and from events. A big thank you to our teachers for their enthusiasm and participation in all of the events. It was an awesome way to start the school year.
Below are the preliminary team standings:

Time to Teach Teach-To's
On Monday and Tuesday August 15th and 16th, teachers will be providing instruction in the classroom and campus "Teach-to's" each period. Just a reminder that these are formal lessons that take approximately 10-15 minutes to teach, and you want to make sure that students are involved in discussing the Positive, negative, and almost-but-not-quite examples for each procedure. It's also important that you model or have students model the positive behaviors. You can also post examples on chart paper or use your document camera to list them and have students take notes on them.
For the campus Teach-To's on Tuesday, we want to see the students practicing the the procedures in the common areas. The Math Team should visit the playground to discuss the playground procedures; the History department should visit the cafeteria and practice entering and eating (siting) procedures; and other departments should do the same for their procedure.
The assembly and Teach-To's will set the stage for our school-wide implementation of the Time to Teach System.
Course Syllabi
Thank you to those of you who have shared your course syllabus with me already. They look good. Can you go ahead and share a copy of yours with my by this coming Friday, August 18th. These will be a reference for me in the event I need to refer to them in parent meetings to answer questions about grading or course requirements.
District Walkthroughs
This week the District will be walking through the classrooms to begin to observe instruction and the classroom environment. Dr. Pengilly will be conducting a separate ELD visit to observe EL strategies being used in the classroom. Dr. Wheeler (Donya) will be providing us site feedback using the Danielson Framework. She always enjoys observing the Time to Teach "Teach-To's" in action, so please don't worry if you're teaching these when she observes. This is a necessary component of our school-wide management system.
WMS Clubs
We have a variety of clubs that are available to WMS students, and I am working on the ATP to identify advisors for our clubs for the 2016-17. If you were an advisor during 2015-16, please let me know if you would like to continue with serving as the advisor for this coming year. I know we will have a number of clubs that will be looking for advisors this year, including the Technology Club, Poetry and Prose, Cyberquest, Drama, and CJSF. All of these clubs offer stipends for your time, and they are a great way to connect with students outside of the classroom. Please let me know by this Friday if you are interested in becoming an advisor for one of these clubs.
Mud Factor Run
I want to invite anyone interested in participating in a Mud Run on October 8th to sign up for the Wilson Warrior team. I've created a team within the registration, so if you sign-up, just select the team. It will be the 11:30 flight. I've never done a mud run, but it looks like it will be really messy and really fun. Come out to join in the experience. Follow the link below to find out more information and/or register
