Happy Friday Pattengill Families!
We are off to a great start to October! This was another great week to be a Pattengill Penguin! Our TK-1st graders had a visit from Sergeant Arney and Detective Hadfield from Berkley Public Safety on fire safety. All of our students were surprised by Patty the Penguin! Please ask your children what exciting things they have learned this week.
We are very excited about next week's Fun Run! Next week will be full of Fun Run excitement and initiatives to help our PTA reach its goal. If you have not already, please consider supporting our PTA, which in turn supports our staff and students. You may find the Fun Run link HERE. Our students were very excited to learn that I will be spending the day on the roof if we reach our top goal :)
Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to have an amazing 2021-2022 school year!
Proud to be your principal,

Last week Superintendent Francis shared a communication with updates to our quarantine and isolation guidelines.
We will continue to communicate directly with families who have children identified as close contacts (within 6 feet of someone who is COVID-19 positive for more than 15 minutes during the school day). Those who are close contacts will have to monitor for symptoms, quarantine or participate in a testing program, depending on the exposure type and whether both parties were masked or vaccinated. As a reminder, we’re following the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) protocols for quarantining close contacts. You can view the MDHHS quarantine guidelines on their website.
Starting next week, in addition to personally notifying all close contacts of their potential exposure to COVID-19, we will also begin sending classroom letters to elementary families if there is a case of COVID-19 in the classroom. These letters will not share whether it was a staff or a student who is positive, nor will it share any identifying information of the person who is positive. The letter will let parents know that a case is in the classroom.
If your child is not identified as a close contact, there are no additional precautions or steps recommended for you to take.
OCHD and MDHHS recommend that parents/guardians should always be monitoring their children for symptoms, and we encourage families to use the Clear to Go app to do a symptom check every morning. If your child is sick, we appreciate you keeping them at home.
It is also important to remember to share with your school administrator if your child tests positive for COVID-19 after an outside of school exposure so we can do contact tracing in our building if necessary.

The Pattengill PTA Fun Run Team!
Families can attend the day of the event. We strongly encourage you to line the ENTIRE route and cheer on the kids. Please don't all cheer near the start and finish lines. The students need encouragement the whole time. There will be a spectator area at the field by the playground for the prize ceremony after the race ends. The race starts at the office doors and goes south down Oakshire to Edwards, East to Royal, and then North up Royal back to the school. The finish line is just outside the baseball field entrance.
Please remember to report your student's absence, tardy or early pickup by using the
automated Pattengill Attendance line at 284-837-8730. You can also use the MISTAR Parent Portal to submit absences electronically. Please note: automated calls will be made around 9 am to the family of any student marked absent without a call to the attendance line. We appreciate your cooperation!
Please remember that reporting symptoms in Clear to Go does NOT record an absence in our
school attendance system. It is still necessary to call the attendance line or use the MISTAR
Parent Portal to report absence.
Running Late or Picking Up Early
If you are dropping off late or picking up early please make sure to bring your phone to the
main office doors when you buzz to get your child. Below the buzzer is a QR code(picture
below shows it) that your will use to sign in or out your child. All you need to do is hover your
camera over the code and then fill out the google form.
