I know it means one more day that we have to give them a World-Class education. Thank you for entrusting us to do that. Thank you for your support as well. We are truly a Woodward Mill Family!
Please check our calendar–is your family going to Skate Night? I hope to see you there!
Best Regards and have a great weekend!

No Place For Hate
Woodward Mill ES is a No Place for Hate school! What does this mean? This means that each year, our school seeks to build a safe and inclusive community in which respect and equity are the goals and where each and every student can thrive. We empower students, teachers, administration and family members to take a stand against bias and bullying by incorporating new and existing programs under one powerful message. We send a clear, unified message that all students have a place where they belong.
This week, our students and staff signed the No Place for Hate Pledge to be displayed in our hallways. If you are in the building, we would for parents to sign the pledge too! Ask at the front desk to sign the pledge and support our school climate. Check out our website for the No Place for Hate Pledge and the Woodward Mill Inclusive and Equitable School Climate Policy Statement.

Character Trait of the Month

Lifelines Prevention- 5th Grade
Fifth grade parents, a letter providing information about the Lifelines Prevention Curriculum was in your child’s Friday Folder last year. Please review the letter so that you have this important information. The letter will provide instructions on the curriculum, and give instructions on how to opt-out if needed.
September is Attendance Awareness Month
Showing up for school has a huge impact on a student’s academic success starting in kindergarten and continuing through high school. We realize some absences are unavoidable due to health problems or other circumstances. But, we also know that when students miss too much school— regardless of the reason – it can cause them to fall behind academically. When students are not at school, they are missing valuable instructional time.
Here are some things you as a parent can do to help improve your child’s attendance:
Talk with your child about what happened at school each day. The more interested in school you are, the more they will be!
Set a bedtime and morning routine so that your child is well-rested and ready for school.
Wait to take family trips until school holidays or summer break.
Spotlight on SEL Picture Books
This Very Tree by Sean Rubin
A deeply moving story about community and resilience, from the point-of-view of the Callery pear tree that survived the attacks on September 11. A resonant, beautifully rendered testament to life and renewal.
