Welcome Back to Term 2!

Once again there are some fantastic learning opportunities planned for all of our students this term. It was great to see everyone back on Wednesday with smiles on their faces and a positive attitude. Long may it continue!

COVID

The Minister for Health, Hon Amber Jade-Sanderson announced on Tuesday that effective 12.01am, Friday 29 April 2022, public health measures in Western Australia will be eased to what is now being called ‘baseline settings’.

CEWA is currently working with the Department of Health and the Department of Education to determine the full implication for school operations, going forward. Once I have the information, I will update you accordingly.

Please note that while masks are no longer mandatory for students, staff or parents from tomorrow, the wearing of masks is encouraged where physical distancing is not possible.

Making Jesus Real (MJR)

On Tuesday at our whole staff development day, we learnt about the Making Jesus Real program and how we can use it to complement the Religious Education already taught throughout the school.

Making Jesus Real is a holistic approach so that all who encounter the MJR philosophy will be inspired by the words, actions and teaching of Jesus Christ. It will help the students discover the values, qualities and attitudes necessary for a faith filled, positive life.

Making Jesus Real is aimed at helping our students gain and maintain a positive attitude to life through assisting in the development of people skills and life skills. It is centred around the belief that we are the image of Jesus to all those people around us. You will be seeing and hearing a lot more about MJR as we begin our journey this term.

Edu-Dance

Edu-Dance lessons started yesterday for our Pre-Primary to Year 6 students. I am pleased to say that Miss Winter will again be teaching the students this term. Our students really love this contemporary dance program and that was very evident during their first lesson. It's great to see the students so eager, happy and engaged!

ANZAC Ceremony

I would like to thank our SRC and Mrs Anderson for running our ANZAC ceremony today. The ceremony was conducted online with each of the classes in their own rooms. It was a very special and reverent occasion as we gave thanks for those service men and women who served in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

Lest We Forget!

NAPLAN

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) tests will be conducted for all Year Three & Five Students here at Queen of Apostles from Tuesday 10th May to Tuesday 17th May. Catch up tests for students absent on those days will be available until Thursday 19th May.

This year all NAPLAN Assessments, except for Year 3 writing, will be conducted online. All Year 3 and 5 students participating have had opportunities to sit online practice tests so they are familiar with the system and types of questions they may encounter.

Best Wishes

Mark Ryan
